  • Top 5 Sushi Rolls

It wouldn't be far from the truth if I told you I'm pretty much addicted to sushi/sashimi. I could seriously eat it every day and not even feel an ounce of shame in doing so.

I've never tried a sushi roll I didn'tlike, but I definitely have my favorites. I try to broaden my sushi-horizon every time I eat it, trying out new rolls, but I consistently need to order at least one of the following to make myself truly happy and satisfied.

As far as dipping sauces go, I'm pretty versatile in my pickings. I can go for plain old soy sauce, perhaps with a touch of wasabi mixed in, just as much as I can go for spicy mayo or honey wasabi sauce. (Side note on honey wasabi sauce: I LOVE THE STUFF!! It's like honey mustard but wasabi, an awesome green color and just the right amount of kick.) I also enjoy sushi with and without the inevitable ginger on the side.

    1) Spicy Tuna Crunch Roll

Spicy tuna will always be my number one. Especially the crunch of those yummy tempura flakes! I remember the first time I tried it I was worried that it might be too spicy, but after one bite I was hooked! Hardly spicy at all and absolutely delicious!

    2) Wasabi Lobster Roll

I don't usually see this one on restaurant menus, but when I do I definitely order it! It has lobster, wasabi, and caviar mixed in one. I usually like to add some crunch in, too (what can I say, I'm a sucker for the crunch!). I especially enjoy this one with the honey wasabi dipping sauce. The flavors go extremely well together.

    3) Salmon Avocado Roll

It may be a pretty standard roll, but my god is it a yummy one. The creaminess of the avocado blends very well with the lean-fattiness of the salmon. I have to admit - I've had this roll for three nights in a row now! And I have more that I will be having for lunch today...

    4) Asparagus and Shiitake Mushroom Roll

Okay, so I know there is no fish in this so it kind of isn't really sushi, but these two veggies make such a great combination! This was my all time favorite when I was vegetarian, and I highly suggest it to any vegetarians/vegans out there! Despite eating meat again, I still order it now on occasion.

    5) Yellowtail Scallion Roll

Yellowtail has a pretty mellow taste, and therefore I recommend it to anyone who is curious about sushi but not really turned on to the fish flavor. The scallions add a nice, fresh flavor as well, not overpowering but complimenting the yellowtail well.

What are your favorite sushi rolls?
