Top 5 Comfort Foods
"Comfort foods" is more than just a term, they're for real. Some foods can actually remind us of simpler, easier times, therefore relaxing us (or comforting us) as we eat them.
We all have our own comfort foods, perhaps they remind us of childhood or one of our best memories. Here is a list of mytop five comfort foods.
1) Bologna Sandwiches
As a little kid I loved bologna sandwiches. I have so many summer memories of sitting on my back porch eating a bologna sandwich after running through the sprinkler in my backyard with my brothers. They just give me a warm, cozy feeling and put a smile on my face.
2) Cheese and Crackers
I feel like almost every time I go to my grandparents' house I end up having cheese and crackers. I love spending time with them, so of course any food that reminds me of them is going to provide me with comfort.
3) "Pour Man's" Pizza
Simply toast some bread, spread pizza sauce on it with cheese and whatever meat/veggies (I usually opt for pepperoni), then broil for a few minutes till cheese is melted. My mom made this for me a lot when I was a kid and I still make it to this day. You can find me making this usually on a rainy day.
4) Velveeta Macaroni and Cheese Shells
I was pretty picky when it came to mac and cheese as a kid, plain old Kraft just didn't do it for me. I loved the creaminess of Velveeta, especially the shells. The best was when a bunch of the cheese got stuck in a shell so it was super cheesy when you bit into it.
5) Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup
I have so many memories of eating this for lunch or dinner on cold days as a kid. A favorite activity of mine was to actually eat this by candle light while reading a book. I'm pretty sure that started because a thunderstorm knocked the power out once while I was eating and reading, so my mom lit a candle for me to continue when I was like 8. The atmosphere of everything was so nice! I still enjoy doing this every once in a while.
What are your top 5 comfort foods?

From my mom's recipe collection:
1. Pot roast with potatoes, carrots, and onions2. "Packer" chili (she really only made it on Sundays, and so it became associated with the Green Bay Packers)3. Tuna noodle casseroleFrom my boyfriend: 4. Home-made mac & cheese
Due to associations with my grandparents: 5. Chocolate pudding.
I love my mom's made-up noodles. I just can't bring myself to actually try making it yet on my own and when I go home I always ask her to make them for me. I guess eventually I'll have to make them on my own.
My all time favorite comfort food is pasta in any shape or sauce, especially my grandmother's gnocchi with meatballs and homemade sauce or my mom's cavatelli and classic ragu. :P then there's spongebob mac and cheese, my stepmom's pot roast, chocolate or rice pudding (or ice cream) for dessert,.... oh and gushers as the greatest after school snack for kids of the 90s (that or jax cheese puffs- remember those?). ego waffles with a tall glass of chocolate milk make a pretty good comfort breakfast, as well. how did i eat all of this stuff when i was a kid???
Not these, but anything Asian. Especially ramen, sushi, cookies, potatoes with cheese, cakes, and coffee!!!! :p
