Tasteless Food Sprinkles That Make You Lose Weight?
Diet and exercise really isn't enough these days.
A company called SENSA has come up with a new dietary supplement that helps your brain to not let you over-eat. It is a tasteless, odorless, "food sprinkle" that you apply to everything you eat. It's name? Tastants.
Dr. Alan Hirsch is the mastermind behind Tastants. He specializes in understanding how our senses, particularly smell and taste, affect our brain functions. In his research over the years, he found that certain smells and tastes can actually alter the brain's control over appetite.
So how does it work? Despite being tasteless and odorless, the sprinkles send scents to your brain that Hirsch has found to help suppress appetite, therefore preventing you from overeating. It basically works based off of a phenomenon called sensory-specific satiety.
And apparently, because it includes no stimulants and doesn't interact directly with the digestive system, there seem to be no side effects.
They conducted a study over a 6 month period where users lost an average of 30.5 pounds! I'm curious how it affects your brain long term though...
You can check out a more in depth explanation of how it works on SENSA's website here.
You can also read the original article that has some more information on How Life Works here.
Personally, I think this is a little weird. I mean, it's really cool how it works, but I wonder what it does in the long run to anyone who uses it. But then again, I've never been a fan of any supplement you need to take in order to lose weight.
What do you think of Tastants? Would you be willing to give them a try?

It may not TASTE like anything but what about the texture?
Interesting idea.
I agree with you about the long term effects on the brain. It seems like a great idea in theory but is it safe to take?...
Could also be a placebo effect. But I wanna see what the chemical composition is.. =/ Interesting concept though
Sounds awesome...but I think I would be too scared because it is too new..
I looked up reviews and apparently it's just a huge scam. The company like overcharges you a bunch.
It smells like armpits. Seriously.
my bet is that in the long run your brain realizes it's being tricked into thinking it's getting more calories than it is and starts to adjust, leading to a sort of dependency where if you go off it you'll want to eat everything in sight.
I'm not into any diet pill / supplement.
People should keep food journals and eat healthy food and exercise. That's what works. Nothing else does.
I'm going to stick with dieting and exercise.
I think it's great but i'm not curious enough to try them until more long term testing has been done.
I think I'm going to have to give this a try!
a six month trial period is not long enough to get reliable results, especially long term when people STOP using this. i can control my own portions just fine without adding more chemicals to my diet
Are these claims true? Hm. Either way, they'll be sold at expensive prices. And we could probably do better knowing that we're saving money by just plain eating/exercising right.
Definitely if I ever get to a point where I COULD lose weight, and if overeating was an issue for me, definitely. I'd probably even do a lot of dangerous stupid stuff to lose weight.
But right now, they couldn't do anything. I can't eat solid food most days anymore, makes me sick. At best I almost live off milk because it seems to be the only "filling" thing my body will tolerate anymore. And then amazingly, I'm still obese despite the fact I maybe can eat a meal every two or three days. Totally love how my body refuses to function properly. >.>
But yeah, if overeating was ever something that will be a problem in the future (which if I can ever eat again without feeling sick, I'm sure it will be.. I've always had a crappy relationship with food, but I do miss being able to enjoy it a hell of a lot, so that could easily become a problem if I ever get to where I can eat without feeling sick) I would definitely try it. Currently though, it wouldn't do any good, since I don't really ever get to eat anything anyway.
I would worry about dependency.. I can just imagine getting off sensa and not being able to tell when you are actually full which result in over eating and maybe binge eating.. then again I think its like that with lots o diet pills on the markets now a days.
Plus have there been long term studies on this drug? I think I'll wait at least ten years to see if there are any affects lol..
my co worker does the Sensa diet and I don't see a difference. THey have a slight taste if you eat them alone (she let me try) but I started exersizing and eating right about the same time she started her program and I am winning
the crystals disovle into the food . My co worker does this Sensa diet. She let me taste them and they do have a flavor, but she says you cannot taste them on food. Anyway i have been eating right and exeerciseing since she started the program. Long story short I 'm losing more wieght and feeling better too
I don't trust them. Too good to be true. I'd wait a couple years to see how it all plays out. I've only got one liver and I'd like to keep it a while.
Actually that is not true. they do have a taste (personal experience) the salty one tastes like salt, and the sugar tastes slightly like splenda. The reason it says tasteless is because if you only put a little on something that goes with it, you won't tell a difference.
And yes, it does work. Maybe not the way it says, but if nothing else, because you think it will do what they say it will, your brain automatically begins to do it, because it thinks that it is being made to. Example: Go to a party with non alcoholic beer, but don't tell anyone. They will have the effects of being drunk, even though there is no alcohol in their system, because you believe there is alcohol in your system. Same idea as sensa. Either way, it works.where can i get it in canada? :O
"It's name?" should be "Its name?"
I'm a grammar nazi. Yep.
I'll stick with lifestyle changes and exercising. It's working for me fabulous.
I just dont know about it. It really does sound like its okay to try. What I have been reading so far and the reviews the good out ways the bad. I might give it a try and let you guys and gals know the outcome real talk....Im still skeptical tho.
