5 Weird Food Combinations That Aren't Half Bad
We all have strange food combinations that we enjoy, or at least know someone else who does.
I must admit, I have a couple myself but mine aren't as strange as some of the combos those around me enjoy. But I also have to admit that these combos have made me curious! So I've tried them out with quite surprising results.
1) Peanut Butter and Mayonnaise Sandwich
This is a favorite snack of my grandfathers. The first time I saw him eating one of these I was disgusted. But I know my Poppop, and the man has good taste. So I decided to take a bite one day. Can't say it is something that I would make all the time, but it was actually pretty good! A very interesting flavor, a lot sweeter than I would have imagined.
2) Bananas and Pizza Sauce
I've brought this up before in my post about food in Nickelodeon's Doug. Well, thanks to the funny-man Doug I thought I'd give it a try. Honestly, I quite enjoyed it! I can totally see how someone might not like it, but if you generally have an open-minded palate then I don't see why wouldn't like the combination. Go ahead..try it!
3) Garlic Bagels with Raisin Walnut Cream Cheese
Okay, so this isn't as weird as the first two, but when I worked at a bagel shop back in high school my coworkers did look at me funny sometimes for this one. As I've said before, I'm pretty much a garlic addict. The combination of garlic with the fruitiness of the raisins is perfect. I swear it is so satisfying, one try and I bet you'll start ordering this at your local bagel shop!
4) Peanut Butter on an Omelette
I'm not sure if this is an Australian thing, but my boyfriend (Australian) always spreads peanut butter on omelettes. I usually go for ketchup if anything, but I was pleasantly surprised at this combo. It gives the eggs a nice peanut-y taste. I guess it's not any stranger than my love for scrambled eggs with maple syrup...
5) Marshmallows and Salsa
Okay, I still don't know how I feel about this one. But I can tell you that one of my roommates best friend's loves this combination. Let's just say it's...interesting. I wish I knew how she discovered this one!
What strange food combos do you and those around you enjoy?

I love unusual sweet and salty combinations. Fries and ice cream, chips and smoothies, that sort of thing.
i like bananas and american cheese ...
Is cereal (preferably Rice Krispies) with peanut butter, chocolate chip cookies and bananas weird?
'Cause man, that makes an amaaaaaazing breakfast/lunch..
french fries and guacamoleeeeee!!!! or dipping wendys fries in a frosty! yum. people from my hometown love fried oreos... but fried chocolate sounds pretty scary to me. has anyone ever tasted that?
that all sounds disgusting. I like bagels with peanut butter, bananas with peanut butter or nutella. That's it for me. And those aren't even weird.
Number three is the only one that sounds like it could be remotely good.
I can only think of one strange combination that I eat: cucumbers and honey.
Chicken nuggets dipped in vanilla shakes!
all nasty in my opinion - I am a very picky eater
I like guacamole on my sammiches and I just recently (tonight) decided I like carrots and cucumbers on my sammiches as well.
Soy sauce + syrup as a marinade for my tofu/tempeh. Didn't think it'd be awesome, but my roomie made me try it and I've been hooked ever since.
Hmm, the bagel one doesn't sound too bad except that I'm allergic to nuts :( Actually, when I get bagel buckets from Einstien's the Cinnamon Raisin ones mix with my dad's garlic ones and the garlic-y taste isn't that bad!
Also, a combo that isn't actually weird but everyone makes fun of me for, is just dipping tortilla chips in sour cream. YUM. :P@Anniep91@xanga - Fried chocolate is very delicious, sadly I felt bad the rest of the two days.
My sister adores frito chips dipped in frosting- I guess it's another take on the whole "sweet and salty" hype? I haven't tried it yet, but maybe someday!
The peanut butter with the omelet doesn't sound too bad- I've recently heard a lot about cream cheese in omelettes??
I like peanut butter and red onion sandwiches. Yum. And peanut butter banana!
@ncxcorexkid@xanga - maple syrup?
I think the only combination that would seem "weird" is the french fries and frosty bit...
Grilled cheese with tortilla chips inside...
Pistachio nuts dipped in mustard...^ I really liked that when I was pregnant >_>Mmm, I love garlic too!
The weirdest I have is probably mashed potatoes with ranch... But I recently found out its not as weird as I thought! If someone hasnt tried it, try it.. Its amazing :D
Cheetos dipped in Sherbet.
Flamin' Hot Cheetos and cream cheese. I love it! Also, tomato and mayo sandwiches (ever since Harriet the Spy) and tuna with whipped cream sandwiches.
Peanut butter and onion sandwiches, peanut butter and pickle sandwiches, and dipping my fries in a chocolate shake or a frosty. that's about as weird with food as i'll go.
@methodElevated@xanga - that actually sounds good.
My weird combo is pickles and cheese. I mean, it's not that weird, they're both together on burgers. But they taste amazing together.
3) sounds ok to me.
Peanut Butter Sandwich and Tomato Soup.
I dip my peanut butter sandwich in my Tomato Soup... YUM
The odd thing is I really hate peanut butter, unless it's with my tomato soup.
Also I like to dip my fry in ketchup then in my milkshake, I also like the swirl the left over residue from the ketchup within my milk shake.
@methodElevated@xanga - That sounds divine! I'm going to have to try that.
@emaciationxisxthexgoal@xanga - Tuna and WHIPPED CREAM?
In my opinion, you are the winner of the weirdness!
