When I go food shopping (which is about every two weeks-I don’t like the grocery store) I will buy one or two frozen pizzas to keep on hand, so when I come home and I’m in the don’t want to cook mode I can just reach in the freezer for one of these bad boys. I’m really picky when it comes to my frozen pizza’s because a lot of them are just not that great. Being from New York, I guess overall I’m picky with my pizza in general. I can’t stand Dominoes or Pizza Hut, and I can’t stand it when places claim to be NY Style and it ends up tasting like NY garbage. However, I have never had Digornos frozen pizza’s let me down.
What I like to do sometimes with my frozen pizzas and other pre-cooked items is add my own fresh ingredients to give it a less- processed taste.
A couple of days ago I pulled out my pizza that was just spinach, garlic and mushroom, and on this particular day I was in the mood for some meat. I remembered that I had some Italian Spicy sausage in the freezer, so while my pizza was in the over I got out my skilled and browned my sausage which took no time. As I was doing that I thought why stop there, and I diced up some onions, red peppers, and fresh basil I had on hand. I added this to my pizza during the last 10 minutes of baking, and what came out was the lovely pizza you see below.

In the past I’ve bought plain frozen pizzas and have added some shredded chicken breast(pre-shredded-I'm all about cooking my meals in 30 minutes or less) , shallots, and BBQ sauce and made my own BBQ chicken pizza, and I also like pairing up ground beef and pineapples. I like to get creative with my pizza!
What are some pre-cooked foods that you like to add your own touch to-- to make them more homemade?

I will say that Freschetta = the bomb. I love that pizza. And I add hot sauce to my pizza most of the time, as well as mushrooms.
nom nom nommm!! :9
I'm not from NY but I can agree that Dominoes and Pizza Hut pizza is pretty gross! I don't usually add anything to frozen pizzas, we like Red Baron and DiGiorno ones. I do mix up those frozen pasta dinners that you reheat on the stove (the ones with a protein, noodles, veggies and sauce). The package says it's 2 servings but they're pretty wimpy so I usually add more veggies. Recently I've decided to stay away from packaged goods as much as we can. I've taken up cooking more often and really enjoy it.
I add cheese and veggies and extra meat as well to my pizzas.
I brown my frozen waffles in butter in a skillet and my kids love them
I like to add my own stuff to baking mixes XD It hurts my pride a little to cheat with boxed mixes {as someone that Loves to bake,}
I don't add anything to frozen pizza. With me, it's get it out of the freezer, on the pizza pan, and in the oven. If I'm cooking a frozen pizza, I'm really not in the mood to do anything else to it.
My usual choices are Tombstone and Kroger's store brand pizzas.
I normally add a lot more cheese and some Italian spices, my fiancée adds mushrooms and a few spices to her half.
My mom used to always buy the plain cheese DiGiorno pizzas, and after a while it got boring. Usually whatever veggies we have I'll add (tomatoes, onions, sauteed mushrooms, olives), even though I try to stay away from DiGiorno.
If you're going to add all that stuff why not just get a premade crust and sauce and make your own.
I'll add some extra cheese and italian seasoning but it defeats the purpose if you're going to add a ton of other stuff.
I just make my own pizza because it's not that hard.
@Wait_by_Moonlight@xanga - Freschetta still exists!? We used to buy that years ago (and it definitely was the bomb!) but we can't find it anywhere any more..
i like to add pineapple!
@ncxcorexkid@xanga - Yeah and if you do it right it taste way better than any frozen or fast pizza.
My mom does this too. She buys frozen cheese pizzas and we put our own toppings on. This works out best because my family all likes different stuff on their pizza.
