Seems counter intuitive, but the
grilled cheese isn't the only thing to be celebrated this month. Yes, it's also
National Soy Foods Month.
Soy products have been gaining popularity over the years and the variety of foods more readily available have also expanded.
Here is a list of common soy products: - Edamame
- Soy Milk
- Soy based infant formula
- Tofu, tempeh and other meat alternatives
- Miso (mainly used in Japanese cooking)
- Soy Sauce
- Soy Yogurt
One serving of soy food can equal 7 - 15 grams of heart healthy protein. Soy flour adds extra nutrition to baking and soy nuts are also a good source of protein.
Foods containing soy are everywhere, the more common foods such as soy sauce, soy milk, tofu, soybean oil can be found in supermarkets. Soy protein, soynuts, and soynut butter can be found in health food or natural stores.
Here is a site to find a huge list of soy recipes;

I love most soy products. Edamame is amazing and even though I'm a meat eater I enjoy tofu quite a bit.
Yeah, for health reasons I keep soy milk, soy butter, and occasionally soy cheese in my fridge instead of the dairy versions.
Soy sauce and edamame.
It's a normal part of my diet without much thought. I'm eating tofu soup today; it's one of my favorite meal.
Being vegetarian, I definitely eat my share of soy products. I love them, they're great. Tofu stirfry is one of my favorite meals to cook!
Yep, I am a pescetarian and I love japanese food!
I'm a pescetarian as well! and I love soy :)
Being Japanese, it's just naturally in my diet. Most of the stuff I like to eat or cook are with tofu or miso, etc. I'm definitely not some health nut, lol.
i eat edamame. but i have absolutely no inclination to be vegetarian, and the only time i tried tofu it tasted like a sponge.
i'm actually allergic to soy, so i cannot partake in it's benefits..
intentionally!
Yep, yep, yep. All of the above.
Pro-tip: freeze tofu for 12-24 hours and then let it de-thaw 12-24 and it takes on a meatier texture (read: it's not so gooey)
I eat soy products without giving it much thought, most often when I'm eating out. I sometimes use soy sauce, tofu and miso in my cooking at home. You'd think as a vegetarian I'd use it more often, but I prefer other types of plant products more.
I eat edamame often and I very much enjoy tofu.
I eat meat, but I just happen to like soy also.
soy milk and tofu are my favourites of the bunch, and i eat them whenever my parents buy any.
I love soy products! I love to mix and cook tofu in with my eggs. Its so good and you can barely tell the difference! I make stews/soups with tofu, tofu stir fry, i love fried tofu and pretty much tofu any other way. I love soy milk but when buy it its gone in like a day! My daughter will eat tofu raw and pesters me for it while I cook dinner.
So yeah, I buy soy just because I love it and so does my daughter.
YES! I love tofu, and all tofu-like products. And miso (love love). But might be a bit biased cos I'm asian hehe.
I eat a lot of soy products. I grew up in a family that integrated tofu and miso into regular meals, so my consumption of soy products isn’t in an attempt to be healthy or vegetarian. They’re just products I eat. Besides, tofu is yummy and very versatile.
As a vegetarian, soy is absolutely a part of my diet! LOVE IT!
No.
I LOVE soy. tofu, tofu pudding, soybean juice(soymilk), soysauce, edamame ALL good stuff. @__@
soy is definitely a must for my diet! I'm not a fan of milk, but when I have cereal I prefer using soy milk with my cereal over regular milk. Even with meat, I prefer soy meat over real meat. Edamame and tofu are my favorite soy products.
I'm Asian, I'm vegan so soy products are practically 80% of my diet.
Also because I'm a coffee fiend.
Me heart soy long time.
I eat soy as edamame, tempeh, and miso, but I don't eat it as a "substitute" food, like soy milk, and fake meats and dairy products. Those aren't any better for you than any other processed foods.
I don't enjoy soy products as much as I could. I do prefer it in the conventional applications like soymilk and tofu, soy sauce. I think it's kind of weird when it's used to make meat-like substitutes. Recently tried edamame, lovely snack.
