For Your Safety: You Might Want To Return That Peanut Butter...
If you purchased Skippy peanut butter lately, you might want to think twice before opening it up and eating a spoonful.
In several states across the country Skippy is recalling it's peanut butter, afraid that there may be a salmonella outbreak.
If you have regular Skippy peanut butter, you are probably in the clear. But if you opted for the reduced fat kind, smooth or chunky, I'd double check that your state isn't part of the recall.
The following states have officially announced the recall of reduced fat Skippy peanut butter:
- Arkansas
- Connecticut
- Delaware
- Illinois
- Iowa
- Maine
- Minnesota
- Missouri
- Nebraska
- New Hampshire
- New Jersey
- New York
- North Dakota
- Pennsylvania
- Virginia
- Wisconsin

What do you think of this latest salmonella outbreak? Are YOU affected by it?

It's in New York?! GREAAAAT... -_-
Ehh, I never really liked Skippy brand anyway. My mom usually buys me Peter Pan or whatever else is on sale haha.
Nope! Stocked up on peanut butter a long time ago before this.
I heard about this three or four years ago?
@ramblingsofagirl@xanga - It probably happened then, too. Unfortunately it happens pretty often =[
@aliconklin - Yeah actually maybe it was Peter Pan p.b. now that I think about it
we just bought the natural skippy (brown jar). is that affected?
Phew! I was really worried for a few seconds, but I buy the regular kind. And I'm in Washington. ((-:
Awww damn...and I just had a peanut butter and jelly sandwich today
I didn't know people ate Skippy still :x. Eww. JIF is the best.
@RandomxBlinkingxLight@xanga - I'm not too sure, just to be safe you may want to check out the links I provided, they should give you the answer!
Oh noes! I juse had some today, but my state is not listed so hopefully i'm safe.
I'm a JIF girl so I'm safe!
so what about texas? does that mean im safe or O___O;;;;
I'm eating JIF peanut butter at the moment, so I should be safe....right? :P
How does salmonella affect peanut butter? Does it have to do with how it is made or something?
@aliconklin - yeah none of it specifically says if the natural kind is affected. i'm thinking it's just the reduced fat kind.
I'm really glad now I bought the generic brand.
Ah, we buy Kraft peanut butter. I'm safe :)
Nope. I don't eat "reduced fat" peanut butter anyway.
haha i knew there was a reason reduced fat was disgusting. I buy organic but skippy and jif are always have salmonella outbreaks! blah!
Skippy's so my favorite brand. But I haven't had it in awhile. Even if I did, my state's not on the list anyway. Sucks either way.
Allergic :D
Doesn't affect me, I just go to my local market and grind my own from their fresh peanuts.
Makes me glad I'm allergic to peanuts :)
