Thanksgiving Leftover Party!
Some friends of ours turned us on to this magnificent idea several years ago, when they invited us over the day after Thanksgiving for leftovers. Secondly, we were invited to bring any leftovers we might have.Let's face it! Who among us did not WAY overcook for the feast of all feasts? Although, I do enjoy a good turkey breast sandwich from time to time, there is a limit to how much turkey consumption I can take before my turkey meter is on overload. So freeze a small container of turkey and use the rest on a great party with friends.
Most of us spend Thanksgiving with family (or so I've heard, not having lived near family for a good part of my married life), but I can imagine that many of us would love to spend Thanksgiving with some friends as well. Alas, it is often not to be, as it has been touted a family holiday.
This leftover party is the perfect solution to this dilemma, where you can have your turkey (with family) and eat it (the next day with friends) too!
We were able to share some of our family Thanksgiving food and traditions and share and taste the traditions of others! It's also a great opportunity to get some new Thanksgiving recipes for the following year!
Though it's been years since we've actually had leftovers, this year we have quite a stash. We downsized our guest list, but neglected to follow suit with the food preparation. So we've invited some potential new friends (hopefully we will win them over with our superior cooking skills and leftover spread) for our sporadically recognized, but affectionately immortalized, Thanksgiving leftover party!
Does anyone else get tired of turkey for months after the holiday? What do you do with your Thanksgiving leftovers?

I'm not a huge fan of turkey so I try to cook a smaller turkey and another meat entree like pork tenderloin or roast beef. I whip out some paper plates and foil and let my guests fix a plate to take for lunch or dinner the next day. This year I made turkey scramble for breakfast, a couple sandwiches and served another "Thanksgiving dinner" to my hubby with the leftovers. Any turkey left after 2 days just goes to the trash because I can't stand anymore turkey! (Also not too safe to eat cooked leftovers after a certain number of days. But you can cut up the meat and vegetables mixed with cooked pasta and make a pasta toss or cook turkey soup.
