  • What Food Would You Love to Eat at Sports Game?

The days of hot dogs and cheap beer are long gone at today's baseball and sports stadiums. Growing up in New York I've always been a fan of the Mets, but with out of towners begging to go to a Yankee game, I sadly put away my orange and blue pride and attended a Yankee game. The new stadium is amazing (as expected), and I had to give them a true American baseball experience of hot dogs and beer, but we opted for other foods like since there we were flooded with food options galore!

Sports stadiums have definitely been stepping up their cuisine game. Its not just about the game anymore. You can go to NYY Steak, at Yankee Stadium order a bottle of Beaulieu Vineyard, Georges Private Reserve (Napa 1985 Magnum) wine for $465/ bottle. Or you can grab fresh fruit and vegetables at Melissa's Traditional Farmers Market.

“It’s imperative that ballpark cuisine have regional flair,” says executive chef Ed Lake, who oversees concessions at Citi Field, Citizens Bank Park, and Fenway Park in Boston and works with a team of culinary professionals to develop locally inspired menus that reflect a taste of the neighboring community. For example At Minute Maid Park in Houston, you can getbeef fajitas at Tex-Mex favorite Rosa’s Taqueria, with grilled bell peppers, sweet onions, and fresh cilantro, on a soft flour tortilla or  at Seattle’s Safeco Field, you can taste deep-fried cod topped with coleslaw and tartar sauce on a freshly baked bun from popular seafood Seattle food chain Ivar’s. You can find Pierogies, Sushi, Pizza, Tex-Mex, Ahi-Tuna Steaks etc at stadiums now.

In your dream sports stadium, what food or beverages do you wish they served?

    • About Me: Hey! I'm Gilly... after graduating from college I packed up my bags and moved to Australia. Upon arrival I was prepared for the obligatory shrimp on the barbie and a Fosters beer but there was none in sight. In fact Aussies call shrimp prawns, and Fosters is quite possible the worst beer to hit Australian shores... so my friends put some snags (sausages) on the barbie and handed me a tinny (beer) and introduced me to a world of food I never expected from the land down under. While there I tried authentic some authentic Aussie Bush Tucker including, alligator pie, kangaroo steaks, and camel bolognese...to name a few. My friends and I did road trips up the Australian East Coast, Tasmania, and New Zealand cooking food out the back of our campervan. I hope to share with you some stories and recipes from our travels. Enjoy!
