Recipe: Fish Bowl Jello

I saw this and thought it was really cute. It's definitely more of a kid thing but whatever. It's a fish bowl jello with little gummy fish inside from Martha Stewart Living. It would make a great centerpiece for a party and a yummy dessert! Who said fun food is just for kids?!Fish Bowl Gelatin:
Fills a 2 1/2-quart fish or glass bowl
1 two-liter bottle lemon-lime soda, flat
4 1/4-ounce packages unflavored gelatin
2 drops blue food coloring
2 ounces gummy fish
Directions:
Place 1 cup soda in a large bowl. Sprinkle gelatin evenly over soda, and let stand to soften, about 5 minutes.
Place 2 cups soda in a small saucepan over medium heat. Heat until just before a boil. Add the softened gelatin, stirring to dissolve the gelatin completely over the heat, about 2 minutes. Remove from heat. Add the remaining soda and food coloring, and stir to combine. Pour the liquid into the fish bowl. Using a damp paper towel, carefully remove any bubbles that have formed on the surface. Transfer to the refrigerator to chill overnight.
When ready to serve, use a sharp knife to make vertical slits in the gelatin; insert the fish in a random pattern to make it look as though they are swimming in the bowl. Keep refrigerated until serving. Serve within 6 hours.
Note: To make the soda go flat, twist off cap, and let the bottle stand at room temperature overnight.

Wow! This is a really cute party idea! I like!
That is so cute. I know what I'm doing for dessert next time it's my turn!!
Are those Swedish Fish? I love those things! This is so adorable! I can see myself making one of these for my son's birthday party...when he gets quite a bit older. :)
sweet... 2 bad I'm vegan... i won't consume gelatin :/
aww it almost looks too cute to eat!
@Mianis@xanga - I'm a vegetarian, so same here.
They are very cute though!
That's a really cute and creative idea! Thanks for sharing
why not just use blue jello instead of unflavored and then dye?!
Will the slits be visible when presented? I swear there was some way to "float" things in gelatin, like placing the gummies in after it has begun to solidify? I don't know, I don't have enough experience with it. :s
Unflavored? I doubt that would fly with little kids. Just use blue jello 0_0
@Thumper49047@xanga - Yea that's exactly what I was thinking too lol...I realized a couple minutes after ...why not just use blue jello? lol
@CuriousLoveLetter@xanga - Hmm I don't think it'll be too noticeable and even if it is I think it'll look fine... maybe like waves? haha
That is so cute... I may have to use the idea for my son's birthday
OR when you make blue jello make it like normal and then break it up into small cubes or little pieces so the gaps would look like bubbles and have more substance and depth.
This is so awesome! =)
So cute!
Cool Beans!
nt a vegan but umm if all we had were animals to consume or turn into cannibals and eat each other! i bet u'd eat a animal or jus die one.... i'll pray and bless my food as always everything u eat its a sacrifice
Umm it looks like a nice decoration but if I was kid I wouldn't want to eat Jello that looks like a fishbowl. I've always been a picky eater lolz
Cute! And I've been wanting to try something with jello lately..
