What Kind of Milk Do You Drink?
I've drank cow's milk my whole life, I never had much of a reason not to and I guess I still don't, but recently I've been drinking a lot more almond milk than anything else. My mom is lactose intolerant and I think she is much happier now that soy milk and many other types of milk are now more readily available. I wonder what it would've been like growing up on soy milk or almond milk. I obviously don't think my life would've been different, but having all of these different lactose free milks available make a huge difference. My mom never drank any milk substitute until only recently, well within the last few years. It's nice to have so many options, especially for someone with different dietary needs.
I never had a problem with dairy or drinking straight up cow's milk, but I'm all of a sudden hooked on almond milk! I used to drink it frequently last year, but I never thought about making the full change from cow's milk to almond milk. Mostly because of the price and availability. Sure, almond milk is still a little more pricey, but I think it's come a long way in only a year.

My favorite brand; Almond Breeze, is now available in half gallon containers and I couldn't be happier! I used to have to buy the quart sized containers, which can cost anywhere from $2 - $3. Last year, the cheapest price I could find was about $2.50, now I can find them at Whole Foods for only 2 bucks. But, since they now have half gallon containers, I will most certainly be buying those instead. I found the half gallon container at Whole Foods for $3.69, yes it's still a little expensive, but like I said the price has definitely come down.
I am switching over to almond milk for a few simple reasons. I really enjoy the taste, the texture is the same as cow's milk and it's got half the calories. What really made my decision is when my fiance told me he also really enjoys it! I was shocked because he used to tell me he didn't really care for it. I don't have to feel guilty anymore for only buying almond milk, yay! I do the grocery shopping, so it will be nice to not have to buy 2 kinds of milk.
Switching over to almond milk will not be a strict decision for me, it's not like I am never going to drink cow's milk again. I tend to drink a lot of milk at home, in things like cereal, smoothies, and of course chocolate milk after a run! So, drinking almond milk will definitely save me a lot of calories and the feeling of being bloated. I am still going to enjoy the real taste of cow's milk and always will and I'm positive I will still purchase it on occasion.
So many options: rice, hemp, soy, almond, cows...What kind of milk do you drink and why?

I drink non-fat cow milk, 2% if I'm at my parents. Sometimes I'll drink soy milk (vanilla or regular) if I'm out of milk or don't want to go get any because my boyfriend is lactose intolerant. I prefer cow milk though.
I serve my morning cereal up with Very Vanilla Silk and a bottle of fruit lambic off to the side (I'm seriously not kidding about that).
I love almond milk. That's my favorite kind as well. Silk is pretty big in my house. We have pretty much stopped drinking cow's milk at home, but I will still have it when I go out, because I don't want to get too sensitized to it.
I dont know what it is apart from it is semi skinned milk, it used to be silver top/whole milk but we swiched.
Usually 2% for cow milk.
Cow's milk. 2%. I would drink milk in the raw if I could find it anywhere... :-| I think milk in the raw is much tastier than our milk.
i don't drink milk, only use it for coffee. most of the time i just guy the regular grocery store half gallon 2%, but sometimes if I want my coffee to be extra rich I'd treat myself to Organic Valley. The only "milk" I could drink is soy milk, which I switch between Silk and the ones I find at the local Chinese supermarket.
I looooove almond milk. Out of all the alternatives to cow's milk, I like it the best. I like soy and rice milk as well, but I try not to consume large amounts of soy (it has some health risks, in my opinion) and rice milk doesn't have very much nutritional value.
I never really straight up drink a glass of any kind of milk, but I do use it for cereal and smoothies. The one place I can't sub real milk is in my cup of coffee. I've tried various milk alternative creamers and they're all gross to me. So real milk (or half and half) it is.
i love light silk soy milk, its creamy and still has the protein for only 70 cals. it has more protein and benefits than almond, in my opinion. although the alomnd is totally delish!
Red lid vitamin D milk... Just because it's what my parents have always bought.
Silk Almond Milk, original, Hazelnut milk(I forget the brand), and Oat Milk now and then(I forget the brand, oh, and Hemp Milk now and then as well(I forget the brand). If I go to Starbucks I don't usually care what kind of milk they use, I've been getting the chai latte's so they use half and half in those. I'm vegetarian, but I'm lactose intolerant so I don't really have dairy in my diet other than that and in baked goods and sauces and whatnot.
A tobacco company owns that brand
Ooh, now I want to try almond milk. I usually drink whole milk or 2%, whatever's in the fridge. I also like vanilla soy milk and 1/2 & 1/2....I'd drink that by itself =D
lactose-free and soy
I do skim lactose-free and vanilla lite soy. I'm pretty happy that there are more lactose-free cow milks on the market now; acidophilus milk is also lactose-intolerant-friendly.
Cow milk. 1%, unless I'm at my parents' house - then it's skim. I'm from Wisconsin; drinking anything else seems traitorous.
whole milk since day 1. everything else tastes off to me.
I want to try other kinds of milk. I've only had cow milk and soy milk.
I don't drink milk. And in hot drinks I use cream instead of milk :)
@JoeyWLambert@xanga - same here, lol...
my favorite has got to be Good Karma organic chocolate oats milk! but rice milk and soy milk are also staples.. if they're organic, i'll drink it. sans milk of animal origins. i also like naturgreen's oats milk with sea algae etc. but they costs like $3 for a 150ml.
Almond milk is what I use in my cereal now, I really like it. Otherwise, I buy organic skim cow milk. lol
I like the sweetened almond vanilla milk, either the Blue Diamond or the Silk brand. They taste the same to me. I'll have to try the unsweetened regular almond milk.
fat-free cow milk.
