  • Guide to Holland Village Restaurants Singapore

This is a guest post from LadyIronChef.

Lorong Mambong, or more commonly known as Holland Village is a very popular foodie paradise in the West of Singapore. There’s a very good mixed of restaurants at Holland Village; Italian, Mediterranean cuisine, Chinese food, Mexican, Japanese, Vietnamese – you name it, they have it!

After coming up with the guide to Dempsey road Restaurants, I have been thinking about where to feature next. I got my answer when a friend asked me with a simple question: ‘Where to eat in Holland Village?’ My dear, there are SO MANY Holland Village Restaurants

Here’s a complete guide to the Holland Village Restaurants:

    Al Qasr

I know I have mentioned this before, but I wanted to try Lebanese food in Singapore after having it during my Sydney trip. Okay, I shall promise myself to try at least one Lebanese restaurant in Singapore before the year is up. The best part? We don’t have to go all the way to Arab street, there’s two of them in Holland Village!

    Amici Authentic Italian Restaurant

The food at Amici Italian restaurant wasn’t too bad, but the open kitchen made us stink after dinner. If you are looking for a Holland Village Italian Restaurant, I’d prefer La Nonnaover this. But hey, it’s just my personal preference.

    Barcelos Flame Grilled Chicken

    Barcelos

One of my friend commented that the food at Barcelos bears a resemblance to that of the popular Nando’s Peri-peri chicken. Back to Barcelos, they are also available at Vivocity, and Novena Square 2.

Cha Cha Cha Mexican Restaurant & Bar

Other than the popular Mexican places like Cafe Iguana, Margarita’s at Dempsey, there aren’t that many Mexican restaurants in Singapore, and unfortunately Mexican food is not cheap here. One of my friend mentioned that Cha Cha Cha Mexican restaurant is a pretty reasonable place for decent Mexican food, this will probably be the place that I will check out next.

    Cold Rock Ice Creamery

Having ice cream from Cold Rock Ice Creamery in the middle of the night is a damn precious memory. Check out my list of Ice Cream Places in Singapore, for other ice cream options in the west.

    Coffee Club

I never like coffee/cafe chains like Coffee Club or TCC the coffee connoisseur as they are found everywhere. But I have to admit, the Coffee Club’s Mud Pie is huge and satisfying dessert, and I like the location of the Coffee Club at Holland Village that’s hidden at the end of Lorong Mambong.

    Everything with Fries

What do we need to say about Everything with Fries? With successful new branches at Holland Village and Orchard Central, this is probably the contender for the Aston Specialties throne.

    Frolick

I’m not sure if you noticed, but Frolick’s strategy seems to be employing pretty young girls as staff, and I must agree it’s a pretty good move. Love it or hate it, Frolick is undoubtedly one of the yogurt places in Singapore to look out for.

    Haagen-Dazs

Haagen-Dazs has been in this particular spot ever since the start of the development of Holland Village to what it is today. Restaurants and bars have come and go, but it’s really quite nostalgic to see that this particular Haagen-Dazs is still here throughout the years.

    La Nonna

La Nonna Italian restaurant has an ongoing lunch promotion, 50% off their ala carte menufor their weekday lunch. Personally I think that it is value for money, and the lunch promotion is available at both the Holland Village and Namly Place outlet.

    Brunch Mykii Singapore

    Mykii Brasserie Cafe

Brunch at Mykii Brasserie Cafe was a very pleasant affair. Eggs, sandwiches, desserts – what’s there not to like about Sunday Brunch? The brunch menu at Mykii starts from $28 for the Gourmet Chic set, which has a starter of homemade bread & muffin/scone/cupcake, Mykii Brunch platter, dessert, coffee/tea and fruit juice. This is the reason why we love Sundays.

    N.Y.D.C. Cafe & Restaurant

I have to admit, I’m not the biggest fan of N.Y.D.C Cafe. Having tried their cakes once, there wasn’t any dessert that was mind-boggling. Or maybe I tried the wrong cake. Anyway, if you are craving for some sweets after dinner, by all means drop by this dessert place at Holland Village.

    Sushi Tei

    Sushi Tei

The only reason why I have been to Ichiban Boshi and not Sushi Tei is because of the latter’s everlasting long queues. Maybe Sushi Tei is really fantastic, but to queue half an hour just to get in the restaurant? That’s not my style. So I think the only chance for me to go Sushi Tei is a) go during off peak hour, or b) come to the branch at Holland Village.

    Wendy’s Singapore

It seems like Wendy’s is plotting to take over the island by storm. After Lau Pa Sat, they have opened branches at Jurong Point, Liat Tower (current made unavailable by the recent flood in orchard), and now Holland Village. Interestingly, they have took over the premises of several Burger King outlets. Wendy’s on the rise? I’d certainly not bet against it.

    Yee Cheong Yuan Noodle Restaurant

    Yee Cheong Yuen Noodle Restaurant

Over the years, Holland Village has seen so many restaurants come and go, but I will always remember Yee Cheong Yuen noodle restaurant which has been there since the start of forever. Granted, I’m not a big fan of their Ipoh Hor Fun, but it’s always nice to see a familiar face around after all these years. I recently came to know that the noodle house actually belongs under the same management of Palm Beach Seafood at One Fullerton.

    2am: Dessert bar

For the longest time, I have heard about the brilliant creations of Chef Janice Wong from2am: Dessert Bar. Located at the fringe of Holland Village, the small dessert bar is at the second level of a shophouse. Hardly visible from the public eye, yet they have won rave reviews from desserts lovers, and most importantly, they are opened till late! Just the perfect place for desserts in Singapore after midnight, no?

    * * *

I’m gonna repeat this again, but wow, I didn’t know that there are so many restaurants at Holland Village before I compile this list of restaurants. I hope it will be useful when you are checking out the Holland Village restaurants. It’s kind of sad to realize that I have only try out 3 restaurants in Holland Village – it’s time to eat harder Brad!

Now, it’s your turn to tell me: Which is your favorite restaurants at Holland Village, and which one are you going to try next

=D This made my day. I live in Midwest USA; Indiana to be exact. And I saw this on the top of the ireallylikefood channel and squealed. See, my grandma lives in Holland Ct. so whenever I go to visit her, I go across the street to Holland Village a lot. Just seeing these with their names just made me happy.

    • About Me: How it all got started The fateful time was March 2007, taunted with the prospect of being ordinary this life, out-of-the-blue I decided to have a blog. And mind you, I sneered at the mere thought of bloggers before, why are they wasting your bloody time updating about their personal life when nobody wants to read. I did not started out as food blog, rather a personal blog (the irony). However there seemed to be some interest in the posts that were food-related, so I blog on more food. With the increasing number of readers, I realised that the bad writing and lousy photos had to go. Hereby began my quest to notice how others wrote, and I started to improve my writings. The delicate photos, after all pictures tell a thousand words; photoshop was an essential skill, and I got my Dslr (the partner-in-crime for making everybody hungry).
