Vote: Juice Vs Soda
So for a while now, I have been cutting back majorly on soda. I had been thinking that soda is all artificial ingredients, so juice is obviously the better and healthier choice.
Somewhat recently, however, I saw a Chinese TV show; they were trying to compare the two beverages, and were having people guess which one is healthier for our bodies, and lower-calorie. Comparing 100% fruit juice vs soda, everyone guessed SODA!
And, apparently, they weren't completely wrong. Soda is not actually good for you, but in comparison to 100% juice, it could actually be a better choice. Why? Because natural juice is just "natural" sugar and water; like soda, it is full of calories and it does not fill you up.
“In fact, a 12-ounce bottle of grape soda has 159 calories. The same amount of unsweetened grape juice packs 228 calories.” http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2005/02/11/health/main673229.shtml
So now I guess I am cutting back on both soda and juice…and just sticking mostly with water, and maybe some milk.
What do YOU think - soda or juice?

Except that soda has zero vitamins zero nutrients and zero antioxidants. Also natural sugar is much better for our bodies than high fructose corn syrup. Also most sodas are packed with chemicals and preservatives which nature also most likely did not intend.
i'll stick with juice and club soda. I'm sure an occasional Dr. Pepper also won't hurt too much when drank in moderation.
Juice has tons of vitamins and antioxidents. Soda is just water and flavor.
juice ftw!
go with the juice it may be filled with natural sugar but its also got loads of vitamins and minerals wich i hate to say soda doesnt have
Juice over soda for the reasons mentioned in the other comments. Moderation is key to anything. Look at juice glasses on Amazon and you find that what are being called juice glasses range from 5oz (just under 3/4 cup) to 10oz (over a cup). I try to have only one glass (admittedly, I use a 10oz glass) of juice a day, but I'd say it would probably be best to stick with 8oz of juice instead.
The rest of the day I'd like to say I drink ONLY water, but I still do have a soda or two, or sweet tea. But I do drink MOSTLY water. One thing that might help you break a big juice/soda habit and drink more water would be drinking some sparkling water as well. It isn't sweetened, and the carbonation makes it feel special/more filling.
It's bad but, soda, for the carbonation.
edit: or maybe juice w/ club soda o.o
juice!
I think juice is better for you than soda because of all the chemicals. But if you're concerned about the number of calories, either drink a small portion of juice and/or dilute with water or drink water and enjoy a serving of fruit instead.
juice because it's not all high fructose corn syrup like pop. Seriously, if it's all about sugar, natural sugar is MUCH more easily metabolized & digested than high fructose corn syrup which fools the body into thinking you didn't have any sugar at all.
juice. it just tastes better tbh. its healthier yeah, because its NATURAL. but thats not really my reason for drinking it. and high fructose corn syrup is horrible for your metabolism. your body doesnt really understand how to react to it
I looove juice. mmm apple juice, grape juice, cranberry juice, V8...Not a big soda drinker at all. I prefer water or lemonade or iced tea, though.
Juice. When you look at everything the fact it has less crap in it, and more nutrients, antioxidants and NATURAL sugars instead of high fructose corn syrup, it's obviously the healthier choice.
Plus it tastes ten times better than soda, so...
both.
However juice is healthier for you as soda I have heard reduces your bone strength.
I prefer 100% natural fruit juice. For example, you squeeze oranges for orange juice... or you put cut-up pieces of watermelon into a blender... watermelon juice is absolutely delicious on a hot summer day.
Making fruit smoothies is super fun... like banana, strawberry, blueberries, etc... and use honey as a sweetener in lieu of sugar. You also can use yogurt or soy/skim milk. :D
Water.
Soda! no doubt but i need to change my habits i need plenty of water and juice and tea! :O @blue_crazy@xanga - i love watermelon juice! i haven't had it in a long time!
team juice!
I personally think that soda is bad for you no matter which way you look at it.
And depending on the juice, that can be bad for you as well. Although, some juice are good source of some vitamins.
Water is better & milk is a good idea, and juice would be fine too, but moderation would be key :)
water>juice>soda
I like both, but I prefer water or sparkling water.
I water down my juices and I don't drink them that often. I stick mostly to water. :) But very interesting article!
Juice, especially if it is one of those pure no-added shit puree type juices. There are vitamins and they do fill you up if they retain some of the chunky fiber.
I vote for tea!
Neither. I can't drink 12 oz of either. Both leave me thirsty with an upset stomach.
Coke FTW!
