  • Where Was Your Worst Restaurant Experience?

I felt just like this man.

Everybody's had a bad experience at a restaurant, but should that one time be the final judgment of the restaurant as a whole? Sometimes an experience can be so bad that you will never go back and I'm pretty sure that is how I feel about this one place. Eating out at a restaurant is way more than just the food, it's the atmosphere, the service and every detail counts when dining out.

Like I said, I've had more than one bad dining experience, but there is one that sticks out in my head, Don Giovanni's. My friends talked this place up like it was the best place in NYC. I was excited to go because from what I heard, what more could you ask for than a cute, romantic place with cheap delectable italian food? Wrong! We had reservations here for a larger group, maybe 6 or 7 and we called ahead to see if we could come in earlier than our scheduled time. They had no problem with it...until we got there. We all got shoved into a tiny table that was clearly not meant for this many people. When asked if we could pull another table over they scoffed at us and basically said no because we came early and our 'original' table wasn't ready yet. Okay.

We were curious about the check situation so we asked if we would be able to put the check on more than one card and the waiter basically said yeah if each person had at least $50 to put on it. We were about to get up and leave at this point because obviously we were not looking to spend 50 bucks a person. The waiter stopped us and pretty much said nevermind, don't worry about it. The waiter and the bartender were completely rude and we were not welcome by any means.

We ordered our food and 20 minutes later somebody came out to tell one of my friends that his pizza wasn't available and he had to order something else. My friend was understandably upset. He didn't end up ordering anything else because at that time all of our food came out and he didn't want to sit around any longer waiting for it. First of all, if something isn't available, you tell the person that first, not 20 minutes later after everyone's food has already been served. Second of all, you don't have to be rude about it. The food wasn't even that great, I mean it was good enough, but it wasn't anything near what my friends described.

The whole experience was a disaster and I will never go back to a restaurant where I do not feel welcome at all. They made us feel like we were a burden to them and they did not care about us as customers whatsoever.

This is the one time where I am not interested in giving the restaurant another chance. Their first impression was bad enough to keep me away forever. Sorry Don Giovanni's, you FAIL.

Where was your worst restaurant experience?

I have two. One slightly worse than the other.

The first one was when my momand I went to subway for dinner. First off at most there were MAYBE 4 people total that were either in the drive-thru, as we were, or inside. It took the two girls working their close to 10 minutes to take our order and then another 20 just to get it to us.They were basically goofing off and talking, instead of doing their job. On top of that, we had asked to have our subs toasted and they didn't even do that. Frustrated with having waited for so long for a meal that was not right, I went in and , suprisingly, polietly asked them to remake it. The girl looked at me and said,"Well, I didn't make it." To which I lost it and told her I didn't give a shit who made it, it was made wrong and I wanted it redone. They made it again, taking ANOTHER 10 minutes to do so, and handed it to me, all the while discussing how much of a bitch I was with me standing right there. Needless to say I was beyond enraged and wrote a letter to corporate and will NEVER give any money to them ever again. I should also mention that this was one of many issues I had had at this one and we would have drove off after about 5 minutes of waiting if not for the rather odd placement of their driveup which makes it impossible to leave when a car is in front of you.

The second was when my Fiance and I went to O'Charley's and we got what had to have been the worst waitress ever, anywhere. She started out my throwing the menus and silverware at us before storming off in a huff about something. She came back about a minute later and got angry, and stormed off again, when we hadn't decided what we wanted. Came back and got our orders and drinks, the only thing she even remotely did right, before once again storming off. She brought us our rolls and salads. The rolls were pretty much stale and the salad had patches of brown on it. When we brought this up to her, she got even more pissed and snatched the food away before bringing us some fresh food, which she also threw on the table. When our actual meal got there, she damn near threw the plates at us. We asked for ketchup and a refil on our drinks, which took her way longer than it should have to do. When we got done eating, it took her about 15 minutes to bring our credit card back, to which, you guessed it, she also threw at my fiance. Needless to say she got no tip from us and, since I have only ever had a problem with her and still go there, I will ask to be moved if she is my waitress. Yes, she still works there and, yes, is still a complete and total bitch.

    I have a few...

One time at Applebees, this over anxious waiter sat my boyfriend and I at a table and then immediately asked what we wanted to drink/have an appetizer. We were like, "uhh just a minute" and he stood there until we decided. After we ordered drinks, my boyfriend went to the bathroom. He hadn't even looked over the menu and it takes me FOREVER to decide. So the waiter comes up while he's in the bathroom and asked if we were ready. Uhhhh no! Then my boyfriend comes back, sits down and hasn't had a chance yet to look at the menu and the waiter comes back and asks if we are ready. We said we weren't and we needed more time. He came back ANOTHER time within three minutes. I told him we would let him know when we were ready. UGH! wtf

At Koi, in Evanston, IL they have really excellent food but really shitty service. The waiters get pissed off if you don't order alcohol, and are really brief with you. They don't smile and they practically WASH your table after you're finished eating and still eating your fortune cookies. It's so rude! Then they move their heavy chairs and tables around you as you're eating, making a lot of noise and disturbance.

I ordered a well-done hamburger at an expensive hotel restaurant for dinner with a large group of people for my brother's and soon-to-be SIL's "rehearsal" dinner. Firstly, I wasn't served my dish until about 15-20 minutes after everyone else was served. I'm pretty sure my order was forgotten. After being served, for portion control I cut my hamburger in half only to discover completely raw hamburger. If it was medium rare, like still a bit pink, I wouldn't have said anything but the hamburger might as well been mooing at me! Everyone else at the table stared at digust at my bloody meal and declared they wouldn't eat it either. Considering how starving I was and how expensive the hamburger was, I worked up the nerve to say something and send it back and the waiter said "Oh I thought you said rare, my bad". Even if I did, no one in their right might would eat a hamburger THAT RARE. I could've just went to the supermarket and slapped some raw meat between some bread and subject myself to some E.coli for much less. So, I get a cooked hamburger served to me... but I notice there is a guy who looks like a chef who is peering around the corner, looking to see who the hamburger was being served to... and I believe, seeing who was going to eat his loogie-burger creation. It was one of those "damned if I say something, damned if I dont" kind of things.

Maybe if you just went at the correct time of your reservation you would have had a better experience.

@sarahb_86@xanga -   I've had a bad experience with subway too!!  Never get the meatballs if they look somewhat burnt cause they are... Its not hard making meatballs butt his paticular subways just doesnt know how to?

@justXwalk@xanga -  And she was saying how she called ahead of time and they said they could come in.. You;'d figure they'd have a big enough table, and that has nothing to do with forgetting....

Restaraunts shouldnt be like this... You're paying your good money to be served, you should be served well

  • justXwalk@xanga

@bbanmen420@xanga - You're not paying good money to be served, you're paying for the food, prep, dishwashing etc.....the tip is what pays for service.

My sister said her and a friend went to a Cracker Barrel whlie visiting Tyler, TX.   She said they were seated right away and told their server would be with them soon.  They hadn't seen each other in a while, so they were in deep conversation, when they realized they had been there an hour and no one had yet to approach them to offer drinks or anything.   They had just been forgotten about.

This guy and I went to dinner for the first time together, within 10 mins of being served our food, the waiter asks if we would like a take out box for our food.  We had barely started eating and we were clearly not done, but he's like um would you like a box? We said not yet, and like 5 mins later he comes back and says would you like your check?   It was a real mood killer.

  • bbanmen420@xanga

@justXwalk@xanga -  You're still paying for the food.. So you should be served well if your using your money.. And when people dont tip, everyone makes big deals about it.. Saying how rude you are even though if they dont serve well, they wont get tipped

  • bbanmen420@xanga

@PrincessPatriotII@xanga -    lol's.. not laughing at you, its just almost the same things happend to me.. except he actually j ust took my plate while I was still eating :S    I guess if one person is done eating everyone is? lol

I went to a cracker barrel in Virginia a few years ago. We were seated...and the waitress HID from us. She came over once, so we knew who she was, and after that, she hid. We were her only table, and we could see her coming out of the kitchen to stare at us, and to talk to other servers, and run back in if we looked at her. We waved and called out to get her attention, and she would stare RIGHT at us and head right back to the kitchen. We had gone with a bus trip, and everyone else had been served their meal, while our waitress continued to hide. We had to get another server, after tracking down the manager and complaining to him about it. We never went back.

Someone robbed the joint. It was horrible. He shot the manger and worse.....I didn't get my ice cream.

Oh my gosh, that last entry takes the cake. How scary.

But my bad experience happened a couple of years ago on my birthday. I was really craving Vietnamese food but didn't know till then that the amazing Vietnamese restaurants (same owner) that I wanted to go to, close on Tuesdays (which was the day my b-day landed on.) So we went to a place that was open but it was virtually empty and there was only one other guy in there. The waitress had a really sour mood. The food was terrible. The person who brought us our food had really filthy-looking nails which made me worry about how close it was to touching the food. We sort of swore amongst ourselves to never speak of the experience ever again and to try to forget it. We never went back there again and years later, when we were in the area again (for a different restaurant), my brother noticed that it wasn't there anymore (for damn good reason too!)
