  • Burgers Made With Elk? Ostrich? Kangaroo??

What's the normal way to eat a hamburger? With beef. (Which by the way, I have yet to understand why something that is called a HAMburger is made with beef. I'm sure there is some sort of historical significance behind it). But there are restaurants that have pushed the limits and started to make burgers with different sorts of meat....forget about beef people.

I was watching the Travel Channel (yes, I watch the Travel Channel) and there was a section about burgers with obscure meats. And to be honest, I had never thought about eating a burger with any meat besides beef or turkey, but these burgers sound so innovative that I am actually willing to give them a try!

    Elk Burger

Apparently Elk burgers taste pretty good. They aren't gamy in flavor and allegedly they are lower in fat than other meats like beef and pork. Or at least that's what the Elk website said. They must be Elk experts over there.

    Ostrich Burger

Ostrich burger? Sounds weird right? But apparently it's low in saturated fat. It's described to have a similar texture to beef. But it's probably hard to get a nice Ostrich burger in the good ol' Us of A.

    Buffalo Burger

To some people who have had them, Buffalo burgers taste better than the average beef burger. Apparently they aren't gamy or greasy.

    Kangaroo Burger

Kangaroo burger? I don't know about this one. There's something about eating something with a pouch that doesn't quite sit right with me. But for those who are adventurous enough to eat a Kangaroo burger, they are apparently a little bit gamy, but not overpoweringly so.

    This is an emu.

    This is an Emu Burger

I couldn't find much about people's experiences with eating an Emu burger, but I would assume that it tastes similar to the Ostrich burger.

Would you ever eat one of these burgers? What's the strangest burger you've tried?
