Recipe: Applesauce Wheat Pancakes
My husband made yummy pancakes this morning, and instead of using oil, he used apple sauce! He's been gracious enough to give me the recipe to share with the rest of you food lovers
First mix the dry ingredients.
- 1 cup whole wheat flour
- 1/2 tablespoon white sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- Whisk together thoroughly.
In a separate bowl, first beat eggs. Then add milk, then gradually add the other ingredients.
- 1 egg
- 2 tablespoon applesauce (we use original, no extra flavors)
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 vanilla extract
- Pour liquid mix into powder mix; stir until just combined. You can add any fruit you want - we like adding blueberries. When we make fruit pancakes, however, we don't add the spices.
Heat up and serve to your happy family!
What toppings do you love on your pancakes?

That...looks delicious.
I'm making THAT for breakfast tomorrow :D
This sounds wonderful! I'm going to try it :D
mmmm sounds amazing! I love pancakes
Thanks! It's especially amazing when we take butternut squash, chop it up, and sautee it in olive oil, like home fries. :)
@Kylie - I love butternut squash! I've made my own home fries, but in the oven....awesome
@Pudgy0pants@xanga - yum! I want to make butternut squash fries. Have you ever had spaghetti squash?
@Kylie - No I haven't, but I've heard that it is good
@Pudgy0pants@xanga - I'm stuck - I'm not sure how I feel about it. I like it best in olive oil and white wine, with some garlic tossed in. It's supposed to be a great replacement for pasta - although, I eat wheat pasta, so hopefully I'm not terribly missing out.
@Kylie - hmmm I've heard that it's supposed to replace pasta too, but it seems like a strange idea. I'll definitely have to try it.
@Pudgy0pants@xanga - I didn't like it with pasta sauce. I still prefer pasta anyway... but it's worth a try.
