I spent most of last night and almost all of today reorganizing and cleaning out my kitchen, my closet, and my cedar chest. I'm very proud of all that I accomplished and look forward to having things a little more organized for as long as they stay that way. It might not be very long, knowing us, ha!
After I finally felt I was at a stopping point with my total home overhaul tonight, I decided to make pita bread. I hadn't made any in a couple of weeks. As I was waiting for my dough to rise, I was overcome with the desire to try my hand at bread sticks. So, I sacrificed my pita bread and gave it a go.
It proved to be an easy task and was actually much less involved than making pita bread. As I was watching my bread sticks bake in the oven, I suddenly found myself driven to make dip to accompany my bread sticks. I thought that a version of the "alfredo" that I made a few days ago with a bit of wilted spinach added in would make an ideal dip. I was right. It made a splendid dip. But I realized I couldn't stop there. I needed a marinara as well!

"We'll have a dinner of dips!" I proclaimed.
I could have stopped there. But alas, a big bowl of peanut butter and blueberry preserves was mixed together in a delicious way to make a satisfying dessert dip.
So, tonight I served my family homemade bread sticks with spinach "alfredo" dip, marinara sauce, and peanut butter and jelly.
Everyone seemed to really enjoy it. It was a fun dinner, for sure.
The bread sticks went fast. This means we have marinara and spinach "alfredo" sauce leftover for pastas and a little container of pre-mixed peanut butter and jelly for sandwiches in a snap. SCORE!
Are you a fan of dip? What's your favorite?

That is a fantastic idea you had there.
:D@Wait_by_Moonlight@xanga - thanks!
my "alfredo" dip is actually soft silken tofu blended with a little canola oil, a splash of rice milk, nutritional yeast, a little earth balance butter, sea salt, freshly ground black pepper, onion powder, and roasted garlic. it's pretty delicious. i actually made more of it last night and topped my veggie lasagna with it!
This is awesome.
mm, I love dips of all sorts. Homemade, store bought, etc. But, I'm really digging (ha.) tzatziki sauce/dip, it is sooo delicious and goes well with many things. x
Sounds delicious! Thanks for posting! :)
One time I was craving hummus so badly, i couldn't afford to keep buying the Sabra hummus nearly everyday. Made my own, went through like 6 cans of chick peas in a week and since i bought a huge amount of cheap costing tahini paste I can still make more. Hummus was in everything, sandwhiches, on crackers, by itself, on celery sticks, on pita bread. mmmm hummus.
Thank you for sharing. :) I wanna try this with friends.
@aliasgrl16@xanga - we love hummus here too. i make it every week or so and i keep us fairly well stocked on homemade pita bread too. mmm.

Wow, this sounds awesome. I love to dip, and I even dip the usually undippable (everything from pretzels & potato chips to English muffins & donuts). I am definitely going to try this recipe. If you ever make your own Queso or hummus, please post it too!
