As much of a carnivore I am, I simply can't do without veggies. And I don't mean just salads. My idea of a perfect plate of food generally includes roasted/grilled meats AND roasted/grilled vegetables. Shoo, rabbit food.
So despite my omnivore's dilemma (what to eat every meal), I do have vegetables that I don't care for as much. Carrots are high up on the list. So are chives and scallions. (I'll throw them into dishes as flavor components but won't ever actually eat them.) But my most hated vegetable ever? Peas.
My war against these green little pellets started like any other. My parents were never a fan of the vegetable either so it never showed up on our dinner table. If we went out and ate and peas made it into the dish or my fried rice, I'd eat it, but wouldn't care much for it.
THEN my parents had to drop me off at my grandparents' place for their date weekend. I woke up bright and early Saturday morning to find that my loving grandmother had cooked a feast of a breakfast. In the center of the table was a bright heaping pile of greenness... stir fried green peas. I gagged and made to refuse to eat it, and my grandmother, this iron-willed woman, made me eat the entire thing. By myself.
Needless to say, I HATED peas after that. I'll ask for them to not be put into my dish or if the chef forgot, will spend at least 10 minutes to pick them out entirely. I've even had to forgo getting samosas because they're always in there and it's hard to pick them out. You can't even taste them generally in a samosa, but just knowing that it's there bugs the heck out of me.

Does this picture make you gag? What's your least favorite vegetable and why? Any stories on people (parentals or others) trying to get you to eat the vegetable in question?

There aren't many vegetables that I genuinely don't like. The only two that come to mind are brussels sprouts and squash.
Ugh. I hate peas. For me it's a texture thing, so I don't like most legumes, either. The smushy, graininess makes me gag. And I do remember my parents trying to force me to eat them. But, turns out, it wasn't just a phase for me, as I still can't stand them.
Carrots, especially cooked. Ick.
are mushrooms and peas vegetables?
The only food (and I mean only) that I simply can't stomach is olives.
I know it's nuts. But I will literally eat anything, any vegetable, any weird gross thing that seems unstomachable... And give it to me raw, too. I don't care. Just not Kalamata Olives, for the love of God!
onions. disgusting!
Bittermelon. Blech.
peas. so nasttt.
zucchini.
and if cilantro counts as a veggie (and not an herb or something), i hate that too. :x
Technically this is a fruit... but tomatoes....I can't stand tomatoes...gross...
Raw tomatoes, boiled okra, and lima beans. Ugh.
Are beets vegetables?
BRUSSEL SPROUTS. Also asparagus. I feel like I'm alone sometimes because everyone loves asparagus. It's just too bitter to me, I feel like I'm eating a weed!
Onions. I've always hated onions. I can't stand to smell them while they're being cut. They just stink!
That's interesting that out of all vegetables, you'd choose peas and carrots.
I don't like bittermelon or radishes.I tried real hard to think up of something I don't like and comment and the only thing I could come up with is raw bean sprouts. I will eat them if they are cooked.
Kale, ick.
Corn, it's so disgusting.
zucchinis and eggplants. YUCK
Raw celery, cooked is okay, but raw, I just can't do it. I don't like raw carrots either.
i hate bean sprouts but i love brussell sprouts... weird i know! iono why nobody likes it... it takes like cabbage to me... i like it sauteed... but i refuse to eat bean sprouts... if it's in my food i'm not gonna eat it... but i grew up liking spinach, broccoli. celery, corn and zucchini/cucumbers, tomato, potatoes and carrots and onions... the list goes on...
I really hate "ampalaya" which is scientifically known as Momordica charantia. It's really bitter.
Beets give me a severe case of nausea, but one vegetable I really cannot stand is bell peppers.
Okra is the only vegetable I don't like. SO slimy. Ugh.
onion.. never liked it and never will.
