  • The Truth About Tea

    Water + Tea ≠ -Water

According to BBC News, the idea that tea is dehydrating is an "urban myth" (but how "urban" can a belief about tea really be?).

The legend originated with the true notion that extremely high doses of caffeine cause dehydration. While studies have proven this fact, the European Journal of Clinical Medicine has officially found that having strong cups of coffee and tea-a few times a day, even-will still amount to a net gain of fluid.

No wonder we've been guzzling coffee and chai six times a day and *not* passing out in the streets.

    In conclusion:

    • 3-4 cups of tea/day can lower your chances of having a heart attack
    • Tea *may* protect against cancer, though scientists aren't exactly sure how (which is good enough for me!)
    • Tea protects against tooth plaque and eventual decay (no wonder my yellowish-brown tea-stained teeth are strong as oxen!)
    • Not only does tea REhydrate with the water used to make it, it *also* contains antioxidants

    Take that, water!
