It's that time of year again; Wedding Season. If you don't already know somebody getting married soon, I'm sure you will start to pass by many weddings on the street. There's a lot of important components that go into planning a wedding, but one of the most important in my opinion is the FOOD!
Food is a huge deal in my family and it's also just as important to my fiance. We both love to eat and drink good beer so we aren't going to just settle for anything. Food will be one of the hardest and most important decisions we make because we don't want to just satisfy everyone, we want to impress everyone.
I know food can be expensive, especially the more options you have, but seriously this is what I want to spend my money on. There will be amazing appetizers including a mountain of cheese, a mediterranean / hummus plate, bacon skewers, and mini crab cakes. I want there to be a good variety of healthy food as well as unhealthy food. The unhealthy food should be extra delicious so that everyone will think it was worth indulging in.
As for the main dishes, I definitely plan to have a vegetarian dish, but I would also love to have chicken, steak and seafood. It will most likely be a buffet style. As you can see, nothing is real planned out yet, but I want to have food that differs from most weddings, I want it to be exceptionally good, but I do also want to incorporate comfort into the dishes so everyone will be happy with their food and even happier after they finish.
What was or would be on your wedding menu?

Sounds delicious. Can I come to your wedding?
I haven't thought about the kind of food I want at my wedding because I've never been very impressed with food I've eaten at other weddings. But I'm also not interested in spending more money on food then on other things. I would prefer to spend more money on the photographer. I'd like a fairly small wedding anyway, so maybe I could get some family and friends to help cook the meal. Sheesh, I'm no where close to getting married and now this has turned into a throught-provoking question for me. Haha.
"What do you like better Christmas or Wedding Season?"
"Yes. The answer would be, um, Wedding Season?"
"Bingo!"
Sorry this reminded me of Wedding Crashers.
Anyway, as long as there's cake, I don't care.
I'm not sure about food yet, but I know I definitely want to have an extravagant cake from Carlo's Bakery, which is the bakery that "Cake Boss" is based on. I've tried their stuff, it all tastes just as great as it looks!
I'm definitely super excited about picking out food. I'm leaning towards a buffet, too. Actually, every wedding I've gone to in my town has had a buffet. But I don't want the typical ziti and baked chicken that seem to be the favorites. All of it will be deliciously unhealthy, and I may not even have an entree; I love hors d'oeuvres and dessert.
My wedding was pretty small, and we had fried chicken and a chocolate fountain with fruit and marshmellows. Not healthy at all, but pretty yummy. We had more food too, I just don't remember what it was.
actually sometimes buffets can be more expensive than sit down meals...just keep that in mind. that's why we are having a sit down dinner...
i think i'll eat anything as long as it's fresh, pretty, and good. i've gone to weddings where the food is sub-par and i end up starving by the end of the night.
i havent thought about my wedding menu yet but im sue my mom has though.
I'm getting married in September. We got reallllly lucky with our caterer. He's catered for presidents and celebrities before and has an amazing list of credentials, but he also happens to be friends with my parents so we just have to pay for the food, not the service. I think we're doing some sort of chicken, a carving station and some sort of seafood. I'm pushing for the catfish, but it's a little spicy so I don't know if everyone would enjoy it. Maybe we will just play it safe with salmon, which is another one of my favorites. We are going to have a chocolate fountain with strawberries and pound cake in addition to the wedding cake. We are doing it buffet style because our caterer does amazing arrangements with the food flowing down the table in tiers with ice sculptures rather than just serving it. I'm really excited about this if you couldn't tell!
Wow, that would be an impressive menu for your wedding! At our wedding, we had some chicken kebabs, meatballs and dumplings for appetizers, followed by Caesar salad and grilled chicken with mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus/carrots. We had a full bar (expensive!) and a "gourmet coffee station" that had flavored coffees, tea, hot chocolate with all the garnishes: flute cookies, marshmallows, whipped cream, etc. We had a wedding cake and Edible Arrangements (for centerpieces) of chocolate dipped orange slices, pineapples and strawberries. We also had a pastry table full of mini desserts, including tiny fruit tarts and chocolate dipped strawberries. (Contributed by hubby's aunt.) Come to think of it...all we were missing was the chocolate fountain! I was just bummed that I hardly ate any of it! But I've had dinner at the restaurant before and it's delish
@direwolf005@xanga - Congrats! And you should be excited
I think the catfish would be a lovely choice even though it's spicy. Guests can pick the chicken if they don't like spicy catfish! Be sure to take your time to enjoy the day and not worry about all the little things that are "going wrong" because the day goes by so fast.
i know there will be lamb and green tea-flavored something at my wedding =)
