Daily Q: Would You Order A McVeggie?
The vegetarian half of the menu at all McDonald'ses in India. This menu is *seriously* a huge reason I can't wait to go there in July.I've often wondered if more people would be vegetarian were it just a bit easier.
It's getting easier by the minute, but there is still no certifiably vegetarian option at (any) McDonald's(es) (that I've been to) except fries.
My mom used to make ass-kickin' veggie burgers for my meat-eating friends when they'd visit, and they'd always sing their praises for the rest of our friendship. (Remember how everyone used to do that when we were younger? We'd eat at each others houses and remark forever on what we ate?)
How many of y'all would order-or at least try-the McVeggie if it were available at the average, American McDonald's?

i thought you were going to tell me that mcdonald's was planning to serve veggie burgers. i was going to come here and wet myself from ecstacy.
and then this.
i resent this post. i seriously do.
No. It is gross (at least the American version is). I've tried it. I think stores in the US, they do not put this on the menu, but a lot of them may have it. I would try the the McAloo Tikki and the Veggie McCurry Pan if only they were available in the US.
@soyeahthatswhathappened@xanga - my masterplan was to solicit hundreds of thousands of comments amounting to a resounding "YES! YES I WILL!" and e-mailing McDonald's-not anyone in particular, just the entity that is McDonald's-the link to this post. presto, chango, McVeggie's!
find one problem in this plan. i dare you.
why yes, i am starving.
@Erika_Steele@xanga - ughhh that's what i feared. what's wrong with it? could it easily be made better?/where is it available?
i'd totally try it. i had a veggie burger recently at a fancy lunch place near work (nyc) recently and was really disappointed. i'd have been happier with a boca burger. i'm not vegetarian, but i appreciate a good veggie burger. what the heck is a Crispy Chinese? the curry, paneer salsa and alootikki options sound great, too.
Really? You want to go to India because of McDonalds? .......
@missneeraja@tripcrazed - that's so crazy it just might work. i'll play along.
YES! YES I WILL!
@dianchik_icons@xanga - it's 2 pm. and i'm vegetarian. and i don't cook. and there's no one to make me anything. and i just drove by two mcdonald's and a starbucks, so of course i had to choose starbucks. since i also don't eat pretentious cookies, i just got my third cup of coffee.
overcaffeinated + starving + no viable fast food options in the fast food capital of the universe = excited about indian mcdonald's
@missneeraja@tripcrazed - haha but going to India for McDonalds is like going to America for culture, or to Siberia for heat, or Canada for privately funded medical care, or to France to learn English, or South America for polar bears.... I can go on and on...
it's one of the reasons why she's excited about going; the implication in the statement is that there is more than one. fast food in different cultures is interesting. i'd say an indian interpretation of mickey d's [primarily beef based] menu is worth trying along with any strictly local food
i'd try it, but i have no plans to eat vegetarian. i do eat less meat for diet reasons, but i don't try to replace it with tofu or anything (gross). i just eat more veggies, fruits, etc.
i love meat anyway. give me a nice filet and i'm happy :)
i would definitely try a mcveggie! i tried the burger king veggie burger and was not terribly impressed.
the best brand of veggie burgers are the morningstar farms grillers prime. try them! fry em up in some olive oil. omg, love....
I went to McDonald's in Egypt...it was interesting. Most of the menu was the same except they had a McArabia which was basically like a chicken sandwich but with flat bread. It was good! I'd love to try India's McDonald's menu!
McDonalds in India has veggie versions. On the rare occasion I eat at BK, I order a veggie whopper jr.
i wouldn't eat it because i hate mcdonalds (read Fast Food Nation) and it would undoubtedly be gross (BK has a veggie burger which is nearly unpalatable) but I think they should do it
I am a vegetarian and I am excited FINALLY there will be something I can eat there!
LOVE MORNING STAR VEGGIE BURGER!
Sure, I suppose I'd try it if it were to be offered at a McDonald's in the USA.
I'd order a McCurry Pan. I mean, LOOK AT THAT! It looks hella good! I'm seriously salivating over something from MCDONALDS!
no :/ mcds (n)
I'd try it just for the sake of trying it, but wouldn't make a habit of eating them. I'm not a fan of McDonald's food.
Granted, being vegan can be a pain when your friends like to eat/hang out at McDonald's.
"Hey! I'm starving, let's go to McDonald's!"
"Hey! I'll drink water!"
"Hey! Shut up, we don't care!"
I'm not a vegetrian, but I'm obsessed with Burger King's veggie burger mmmmm
I like veggie burgers better than normal ones, actually. And Burger King has a halfway-decent one for fast food.
@missneeraja@tripcrazed - I'm in too. GIVE US A VEGGIE BURGER, MICKEY D's!
wait, burger king has a veggie burger?
where the hell have i been.
I'm in India right now, and I LOVE the veg menu at McDonald's. They have three different vegetarian "burgers". It's such a novelty since virtually nothing at McD's in the States is veg. Also, they deliver here. It's ridiculous.
I had a McVeggie in Germany, it was AWESOME
