Sesame Street Cupcakes!!
My cupcakes are like the novice version. :)
What you need:
- Your favorite cake mix (and whatever ingredients that requires such as eggs)
- Coconut
- Marshmallows
- White frosting
- Chocolate chips
- Food coloring
Directions:
- Make cupcakes as you usually would. You can use cupcake liners if you want, but I forgot to buy them so I didn't. Turns out I like how they look without them anyway! :)
- While cupcakes are baking, start making the eyes. Cut marshmallows in thirds, put a dab of white frosting as adhesive and place a chocolate chip in the center.
- Color the coconut. In a bowl, mix coconut with food coloring, gradually adding more until desired color is achieved. I added a little yellow to my blue to get the light blue cookie monster color. :)
- Color the frosting. Mix food coloring into white frosting adding more until you achieve the desired color (to match the coconut).
- Let cupcakes cool completely
- Frost the cupcake
- Cover with coconut.
- Put white frosting on the edge of the eyes (as adhesive) and place in the center of the cupcake.
- Done!

I'm definitely going to be trying this one! I have bought ones at Big Y before but I bet these are waaay better. Nice!
Oh! And you could also try to make Big Bird ones, using bugles as the beaks. =]
@frozencherries@xanga - wait, you had directions? i didn't see any!
Is it just food dye in the coconut flakes? Or something specific?
Very cool, though!
@frozencherries@xanga - thanx for pointing that out hun, not sure what happened but i found the directions on your xanga and added them. i think there was something wrong with the cms editor, and it somehow cut out half your post...lol i thought something was wrong too but then i thought maybe the cake mix had directions so they weren't necessary? lol
