7 Facts About Cookies

You may love cookies but how much do you really know about them?
1. Biscotti Cookies are twice-baked cookies - twice-baked cookies are also known as cantuccini
2. Chocolate Chip cookies are the most popular cookies in the U.S. - they were accidentally created by Ruth Wakefield in 1933. While baking cookies one day, Ruth realized she was out of nuts but she found some chocolate lying around and gave it a shot!
3. Cookies were first made in Persia in 7 A.D. - they were more like cookie cakes than the cookies we know today
4. Gingerbread cookies from Germany were the first cookies ever associated with Christmas.
5. The first fortune cookie was made in America - the tradition of a fortune with your cookie is Japanese even though most people associate fortune cookies with the Chinese tradition.
6. You will eat about 35,000 cookies in your lifetime.
7. The Cookie Monster from Sesame Street was originally named Sid.

Another fact: They're delicious.
I will probably eat more than 35,000 in my life time. In fact, I've probably already eaten more than 35,000.

My favorite cookie is a chocolate cookie with white chocolate chips and dried cranberries. I also like those frosted animal cookies. I'm also a big fan of snickerdoodles. Oh and those big cake-like cookies with frosting that you can find at WalMart in the bakery section. And homemade chocolate chip cookies are also a favorite.

I just love cookies.

I like most kinds of cookies. The only ones I do not like are oatmeal raisin ones, as I don't like raisins.

I thought Ruth Wakefield attempted to make chocolate cookies, but ran out of what she needed. So she broke off piece of a chocolate bar, expecting it to melt in the oven...only to find that they didn't...
35,000 sounds way too little.

Mmmm...there's always room for a homemade semisweet chocolate chip cookie! I love them soft and warm from the oven. Oatmeal cookies with dried cranberries and orange zest are good too (I'd like to think that I invented them but I am sure some fancy pastry chef has already thought of them). As for non-homemade cookies, I like Samoa Girl Scout cookies and Oreos.

The only fact I need to know is that cookies are amazing :D especially if they have chocolate and you melt them a little bit so they are soft and the chocolate is soft ......*drooooool*
