There are a few things in my kitchen that just make me happy to use. I try to only buy specific things that I know I will definitely use, there is nothing worse than a cluttered kitchen. Here is my small list of my most favorite tools to use in the kitchen.
1. Cookbook HolderI only just received this recently as a gift and I absolutely love it! I have obtained so many cookbooks over the last several months and I always have a hard time keeping them clean and open. This is the perfect solution. It's made of plastic that can be easily cleaned and will hold almost any size book.
2. Digital Thermometer
I don't use this a lot, but whenever I do, it's definitely necessary. It can be used in anything from chocolate to meat and is definitely an important component in your kitchen. It was originally purchased by my fiance a few years ago when we held our first Thanksgiving at our place.
3. BlenderI love using my blender! It's so gratifying to see everything inside get macerated and blended into one mixture. I think the reason I like using my blender so much is because the one I had before was a piece of junk. Okay, I'm sure it worked fine when it was new, but I got it as a hand me down from my parents who probably had it for like ten years before that. I hated using it because it took a half an hour to blend one ice cube!

I really need a cookbook holder asap! Also, I love my zester, food processor, and large skillet
I could also use a cookbook holder. I usually try to prop it up with my paper towel stand, but it always falls. Then I try to set it down on the counter and weight the pages down with something, but something always gets slopped on it. I've often resorted to using recipes from my laptop. I perch it up on top of the refrigerator and angle the screen downwards so I can read it.
My magic bullet for smoothies in the morning!
Food Processor & Immersion Blender... used almost everyday for smoothies & hummus :)
A mixer definitely comes in handy. For some reason I love looking at timers. They have so many different, cute ones out there.
A dough blade (aka "bench scraper"). I bake a lot, and do things that require dough to be split, be it to braid challah, or portion out bagels and pretzels. The dough blade really is the best tool for the job.
But I use it for so much more! I use it to scrape up things that I dice and cut, or to scrape dough off a pan or peel, similar functions. I always know where to find mine--it's in the drying rack!
