  • What's Your Favorite Sports Drink?

As it's March Madness time (my favorite time of year), I thought we should look at something sports-related.  What better than to go over my top 5 favorite sports drinks.

    5.  Coffee:  Yes, this is a little unconventional, since it's not a typical sports drink, but most runners will tell you that it definitely gives them a boost when they're out hitting the pavement.

    4.  Vitamin Water:  The Fruit Punch Energy Drink is actually a tasty little package.  Unfortunately it's 200 kcals which is a bit more than I'd prefer, but the kick you get lasts for several hours so I give it a thumbs up.

    3.  Gatorade:  I really really like the G2.  Despite it being similar to Kool-Aid with salt, it's only about 80 kcals per bottle and contains so many different flavors that'll fit any palate.  (They have grape!  How can you go wrong with that?)

    2.  Aquarius:  Aquarius is made by the Coca-Cola company and sold primarily in Europe and Asia.  This grapefruity sports drink tastes similar to Gatorade but lighter and less sweet.

    1.  Pocari Sweat:  First, the name!  C'mon, if that doesn't catch you, what will?  Some people will inevitably be grossed out by the fact that you're drinking... "sweat"... but really, this is a great tasting sports drink.  Made by a Japanese company and sold primarily in Asia, it was my childhood go-to drink.  In fact, Coca-Cola made Aquarius specifically to compete against Pocari Sweat.  Thankfully, Pocari Sweat tastes nothing like sweat.  Instead,  the taste is grapefruity and light but I find that it's more hydrating than Aquarius.

What do you drink during your workouts?  What is your favorite sports/energy drink
