Avocados are awesome! Not only are they delicious and have a creamy-like texture but they are healthy for you too!
You can make guacamole out of avocados for a really good chip dip. I refer to
Vegetables Every Day by Jack Bishop for a great guacamole recipe but I usually use it as a base for measurements and basic ingredients but add some variations.
Simple Guacamole
Ingredients
1 tbl minced onions
1 garlic clove
2 tbl fresh cilantro, minced
2 Haas avocados, peeled and pitted
1 tbl lime juice
1 jalapeno chile, minced
Salt
- Mix all ingredients together in a big bowl.
- Mash combination up with a fork until chunky
- Serve with chips
- Note: I sometimes add some cayenne pepper for a little spice. I'll also add tomatoes occasionally too.

If you're making a big batch of guacamole for a party, a potato masher is great for using on the avacados.
I don't use onion (don't like the texture), but I do occasionally use a little onion powder. I also use lemon juice and Tabasco sauce to give it a little kick.
i've wanted to try to make my own guacamole for awhile. this simple recipe sounds ideal.
Diced red onion makes for some mighty fine guac. I always use it when I make a recipe similar to this one.
Good recipe!
I love guacamole! I'm actually making some for dinner.
Guacamole is a staple in my diet. I am making some tonight. I don't like raw onion so I use a bit of onion powder and usually just add some good salsa to my mashedacados...a squeeze of lime, fresh ground pepper and mix it up.
Lazy gals...but it cuts down on the onion and garlic breath...I cannot STAND when I can taste raw onion or garlic in my mouth the next day..ugh.
i love good guacamole. yum.

i know it's non-traditional, but i also like tomatoes in mine. and the jalapenos! mmmm
