  • Food News: World Largest Meatball

According to Slashfood, Glen Oaks Community College has attempted to outdo a New Hampshire restaurant's claim to have made the largest meatball.

Back in November, a restaurant in New Hampshire made the world's largest meatball.  I guess some college students in Michigan felt the need to claim the title instead, so they packed 400 pounds of meat together and cooked it for about 32 hours.

Unfortunately, the meatball's internal temperature did not reach an acceptable temperature and parts of the meatball were deemed inedible.  Luckily, though, after the uncooked parts were cut off, the meatball was still 30 pounds over the largest meatball's weight.

A few questions came to mind as I read the article -  What causes one to even dare make such a large meatball?  Would it actually taste any good?  How has the Guinness World Record organization stayed in business for so long??

It is impossible for this meatball to be as delicious as some normal-sized homemade meatball or a decent meatball made in a restaurant but could it still taste good.  From the looks of it in that picture, it is dry and just plain gross.  400 willing souls lined up to have a taste though.  Hopefully none of the got sick!

What do you think such a large meatball tastes like?  If you could super size any type of food, what would it be?
