  • Men and Women Weren't Created Equal...

When was the last time you heard a guy go "Dude, I'm seriously craving for some chocolate cake right now."? Or say to his buddy "I’m feeling kind of down tonight; want to get a sundae with me?” You’d be scratching your head off trying to recall but you probably won’t come up with that one instance.

On the other hand, ask a girl what food she craves for and without hesitation, she’ll offer you a list!

I, as a woman get horrible, horrible random food cravings. Most of the time I crave for cake and sweet stuff.  Sometimes, I want a cheeseburger, with fries.  Sometimes, even late at night, I'd crave for pizza (oh that piece of yummy mozzarella laden heaven- thank you Italians!) - So bad – I tried ignoring the craving, it wouldn't go away. For the next days, I couldn’t stop thinking of that pizza until I finally gave in. Then there was one time I craved for cashew nuts and it was like I can actually smell it being roasted-talk about a vivid imagination!

There could be several reasons for food cravings. Yes, even guys have them, except when it comes to food cravings, women are the weaker sex. (For once) men have the greater strength to curb their impulses (why can’t it be same for keeping their pants on?). The other major difference is when guys do crave, they tend to reach out for protein rich foods (that are actually used in muscle building and repair) whereas women are suckers for chocolate, candy bars and carbo-packed, fat inducing, calorie rich foods! Oh sissies!

What are we going to do? Women are genetically and chemically built this way. –and whose brilliant idea was it to made women this way? Screw the female hormones. I tell you, someone was clearly taking sides on this battle!

    I’m not finished.

After all that grease and sugar in our mouth, we flip through the latest issue of Cosmo, or turn on the television, we see skinny models and sexy Hollywood stars. Every day the media bombards men and women with pictures of what is ideal, what is beautiful, and what is acceptable. Fat is ugly, fat is unhealthy, a woman must have curves but still remain slender. I get the picture; however that pepperoni pizza is also hovering over my brain and looking damn hotter. I mean, let’s face it; I’ll never be as pretty as that model, Oh dear, that’s quite depressing. Maybe an Oreo would cheer me up! There goes the cycle again. Sucker.

Women (and men), what foods do you usually crave for?

Do you curb or give in to your cravings? How does curbing or giving in to your cravings make you feel afterwards?
