  • Who Is Your Favorite Celebrity Chef?

There has been an explosion of celebrity chefs in recent years and each one has a very distinct personality.  Some have been lurking around in the media world for ages while some are just starting out.  Everyone has a favorite even if you don't regularly tune into their television shows.

Even though there are many out there, I'd say the top 10 most popular are listed

    1. Julia Child - Any American who can out-cook the French should be famous!  Her cookbook, Mastering the Art of French Cooking, should be required by law in every household.
    2. Emeril Lagasse - He manages to keep his cooking shows exciting with his token phrases, such as "BAM" or "feel the love" and has restaurants all over the U.S.
    3. Rachel Ray - Rachel Ray has a cult-following.  She started out on food television programs but has since extended her reach to talk shows, magazines, her own line of cookware and on and on.  You either love her or you hate her; either way she is here to stay.
    4. Wolfgang Puck - I feel like I knew who Wolfgang Puck was before I knew what food was.  He has 20 different restaurants and top notch catering services.
    5. Gordon Ramsay - He is a very mean man on his television show, Hell's Kitchen, but Gordon Ramsay has won so many awards and Michelin Stars, the angry attitude gets overlooked.
    6. Jamie Oliver - The naked chef first appeared on television in 1998.  His nickname refers to his cooking method, sorry folks, no nudity in the kitchen.  He is currently on a very noble crusade to rid the world of processed foods.
    7. Bobby Flay - The food network's golden child, Bobby Flay, has had his own show on the Food Network since the beginning of time, not to mention he has about 10 restaurants.
    8. Jacques Pepin - Monsieur Pepin has been in the media for ages.  He has tremendous skill.  His cookbook, La Technique, is used as a textbook for teaching French cooking.
    9. Mario Batali - Mario Batali marches to the beat of his own drum.  With his orange crocs and shorts (even in the middle of a blizzard), he can create the most incredible dishes from scraps.
    10. Giada De Laurentiis - It seems to me that Giada is more famous for her boobs than her cooking ability but she sure get a lot of media attention for one reason or another...
Personally, I think Ina Garten, or the Barefoot Contessa, is the best chef, although I enjoy Paula Deen's big personality.

Who is your favorite celebrity chef and why?
