I was really craving something specific tonight for dinner. I was thinking about the foods I used to eat in college from the sandwich shop on campus. Although it was not the healthiest, I always used to get a buffalo chicken wrap with cheese and it would always hit the spot in the middle of my four hour classes. I never cared what I ate in college though, and that is exactly why I gained 15 pounds!
I've been eating really well for the past few weeks and I figured tonight would be a good night to give into my desires. It's all about moderation anyway, I don't like to restrict myself from specific foods, especially since I like to eat so much. So, I couldn't stop thinking about that specific buffalo chicken wrap so of course that is what I had to eat for dinner tonight.
I kept it simple and bought frozen chicken tenders, buffalo sauce, cheese, and wraps. I cooked the chicken and then slathered it in buffalo sauce and put it inside a wrap with cheese and lettuce. It definitely hit the spot and was way better than the one from the college years. I often think of random things that I used to eat in the past and it's fun to recreate them, but most of the time I try to recreate them in a healthier way, unlike tonight.
Do you ever re-create specific recipes or foods you remember eating when you were little?

Dang that picture made me hungry.
I ate mostly junk when I was younger. I used to take ranch doritos, crumble them up, and cover them in nacho cheese. That's what I ate all throughout middle school (and cheese fries). I don't recreate anything because most of it was so unhealthy.
oranges slathered in mayonaise... LOL
since when is a wrap, consisting of solely chicken, lettuce, and tortilla, considered "too unhealthy", no matter what condiment was that of choice? like, seriously? unless you already in the day ate something severely unhealthy, come on. give the world a break please.
that sounds really good (and not really unhealthy).
Mmmm that sounds good. I might have to make an alternate version for myself. :)
When I moved away from my hometown, one thing I missed was a little restaurant there that had a whole vegetarian menu (yes, the only one in the city, considering there were only about a total of 5 restaurants). They had a pita wrap made with "un"chicken and I always make it now. I just take pita bread, the Morning Star un-chicken, lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, and ranch dressing. It's really simple to make, especially considering the "chicken" can just be microwaved.
mmm.. now i'm hungry for a burrito.
@HollowTendencies@xanga - Oh wow... we would've been best friends, haha. Some of my unhealthy meal/snack choices as a kid:
Corn dogs dipped in broccoli soup..
Cheese sticks dipped in gravy (marinara sauce is so played out..haha)...
A bowl full of chocolate cake frosting with gummi worms mixed in...
Raw cookie dough or brownie mix...
Beef jerky dipped in nacho cheese..
Man..those were the days.
I still occasionally eat Maruchan Ramen noodles. They were a staple throughout my childhood. Unfortunately, I grew up and realized how high in sodium they are.
i would make these pizza sandwiches using plain white bread smothered in prego sauce with slices of sausage. then i would put it in one of those panini grill or sandwich makers.
...now i want a buffalo chicken wrap
