In just one week, I will be going away on a trip. Flights and hotels are costly enough but when you factor three meals a day, a budget can often be destroyed. Although I am looking forward to not having to cook when I get home after a long day, I'm worried that I'll return home with a very large dent in my wallet.
Trying to cook your own meals and brown bag your lunch everyday can be tough enough when you are home. When you are away without the comfort of your own pots, pans and brown bags, saving money (and staying healthy) is extremely hard.
My goal is to eat out only half of the time, so I need creative ideas on sustaining hunger without a kitchen. I won't even have a microwave, so I won't be able to make oatmeal but I'll still need to eat breakfasts, lunches and dinners. Any thoughts?
I will be in San Francisco, so I know I need to take advantage of the cuisine served up in this trendy culinary city. If you've ever gone to San Francisco or read about the food, comment below!
Any thoughts on what sort of meal I can eat without a kitchen? Any advice about where to eat in San Francisco?

OMG yes, go to Cafe Mattina in Berkeley! Sooooo good, I go everytime I'm up there. It's all fresh and healthy and delicious, but cheap and big enough for two meals (opt for the salad I say) :)
Well, if you've got a fridge (some places have fridges in the rooms), you can get some stuff to fix some easy sandwiches like peanut butter and jelly or ham and cheese so this way you can at least have something for breakfast/late night snack without spending $10 for one at McD's and stock up on some bottled water so you won't have to buy a lot of beverages. We really splurged when we went to SF, it was a vacation so I can't say I know any tasty, inexpensive places to go. But I would suggest having a delish hot fudge sundae at the ice cream shop inside Ghirardelli Square...most chocolaty hot fudge ever! But beware, things are generally more expensive in SF, even compared to Los Angeles! Or you can do what we did: eat breakfast late and dinner early...so it was only 2 meals a day lol.
Blowfish has amazing contemporary sushi.
Coffee makers can be your best friend while traveling. Instant noodles, heating up leftovers, oatmeal etc.. etc..
