Room room room: lots of storage space for everything! Right now I have my food processor, juicier, hand mixer, immersion blender, dehydrator, and some pots in my bathroom on the shelves b/c I can't fit everything guhh!

The bigger the kitchen the better, but particularly if it curves around like the top picture for convenience (with lots of burners that I can reach on both sides like an island of sorts) :)

Oh, I have dreamed about moving into my own place and having MY kitchen.
Think, kind of vintage/60's counters and cabinets that your grandma would have had. A LOT of counter room. Stainless steel appliances (dishwasher is mandatory) and lots of shelves. It's crystal-clear in my mind but kind of hard to put into words haha. One day I'll make it happen

lots of room to cook, lots of cupboards with pull out shelves, lots of workspace-hardwood floors, dark wood cabinets, granite counter tops, stainless steel appliances, 2 ovens, a DISHWASHER for my sanity, a lovely kitchen aid mixer to set on the counter top, an island, cooktop with five burners, an awesome spice rack, hanging rack for pots and pans, cathedral/high ceiling, lots of windows for light, large refridgerator-I could go on and on-I dream of my dream kitchen everyday almost :)

Modern and sleek. I'm a a sucker for islands.

All I really need is a something to grill on.

No sharp corners, island sink where you press on a pump for water to come out, and lots of cabinets/drawers!! :D CHROME.

Lots of counterspace, efficient cabinets, much like that second picture.  Most of our house is pretty modern and sleek but I really would like the kitchen and dining room to be warm and cozy, someplace to gather with friends and family for good food and drink.  Also, I think having storage places for your small appliances (blender, mixer, etc) is a must.  My kitchen is not huge but I will have to make the best of it because it is our house.  We are in the middle of remodeling and for the sake of not paying it off until the end of our lives, we had to sacrifice the fancy cabinet door design (which was more than twice the amount of the ones we ended buying).  I don't care that it isn't the fanciest kitchen but it'll be a nice kitchen.  An island would have been nice but it's not necessary.  I'm a simple girl with a simple, functional kitchen.

Flat burner stove, an island (sink and/or stove in there would be cool), lots o' counter space (appliances used frequently connected to cabinets or something, so they're off the counter), marble countertop maybe, silver and sleek appliances (with a giant freezer and a water dispenser).

All these things I like because I didn't have them growing up. :)

  • bonEtuh@xanga

i've always wanted an island in my kitchen! and that thing in the second picture looks cool too

TONS of space. In fact, my kitchen should be gigantic. I love to cook and I like a lot of clean space to do it. The first kitchen up there is a great idea, I can reach everything quickly!

Everything in it should also be energy efficient, thats a big plus, and I also want two ovens/stoves.

  • kinamorata@xanga

I like the idea of having an island. Oh, I definitely want a juicer, I don't need a coffee maker lol.

A big versitile island with a second washing sink. A double oven. And tons of cabinents :)

  • Solarhead@xanga

let's see ... a range or cook-top, preferably natural gas, an oven (a wall oven would be nice, but not essential), a flush-mount double-basin main sink of Corian, set in a Corian deck with routed draining board, a smaller prep sink in a separate area where the cook can work easily in the event that there's another cook in the kitchen, an efficient refrigerator with a sizeable freezer (Samsung has a very nice one with two separate refrigeration zones, one dedicated to the freezer, and two separate compressors) with ice-maker.  The floor should be terrazzo with "floor warming" radiant heat.  A section of carrera marble counter-top for working bread and pastry dough.

    No tile. Anywhere. Period.

I like Almilmo cabinetry for their innovative design that improves on functionality, and while they have some titillating laminates and veneers, I prefer simplicity of appearance without sterility.  Good task lighting is imperative without being glitzy.

I've designed kitchens in the past, and have studied in the NKBA.  I left the field because too many people want what's in the magazines, and then complain when I'd place essentials where they insist they want them and they're awkward to access.  Curved surfaces don't improve anything with rare exceptions related to the geometry of the room, so there'll be none of those.

Oh, yeah ... the main faucet ... a commercial overhead-suspended unit at the main sink, that won't get in the way.  The dishwasher is missing, right?  That's because I'll have a 24" cabinet where a residential dishwasher could substituted.  I hate dishwashers.  I prefer to wash by hand,

    I don't care, as long as there's a microwave..
