Eating in Downtown Portland!
Over reading break, my boyfriend, his friend, and I decided to embark on a road trip from Vancouver, B.C to Portland, Oregon. Three sophomores, three glorious days, and 3 days of stuffing lots of delicious junk food into our bodies (but so worth it!). This being our first official road trip without tour guides, we made our own itinerary to get a taste of the local life!
First, lunch from street cart vendors in Downtown Portland!
located at SW 9th/10th (between Alder and Washington parking lot) and 5th & OakMy boyfriend had the onion Bratwurst, which was apparently the best he's tasted in awhile.
And $5 USD buys me shrimp pad thai! (yay for no tax)
Interesting note: what we call prawns in BC, they call them "shrimps" in Portland
Next stop, the infamous VOODOO DONUTS!

This is at the shady part of downtown, but we braved the elements to continue on our quest for donuts to die for...

i would KILL to go to Voodoo Doughnuts.
That shrimp pad thai looks ridiculously delicious. I'll probably go to college in Portland this fall, so I'll have to check this stuff out!
And by the way, they call them "shrimp" in all of the US, as far as I know.
The dirt donut looks good! I'm not so sure about the other ones though . . .
What about that Hofbrau in downtown Portland? Still there? It was years ago, but people were lined up at lunchtime to get a sandwich. Anyone?
OMG I would eat all of that, lol. I'm so hungry now ... I'll have to make my way to Portland when I eventually get to the US, just for the food experience, ha.
One day, I would like to go on a vegan food tour of Portland.
I live in Portland :D It's an awesome place. Never actually ate anything from downtown streets though.. There was one cart near Lloyd center selling chili and hotdogs though. Delicious. <3
It's always nice to support local businesses.
And there's a voodoo doughnut shop blocks away from the shopping center... never actually went there. It's a trendy place apparently. I think I'll stay away from any place selling heart-clogging donuts :D
I <3 Portland! I had one of the best meals of my life at Mother's Bistro but missed out on the Voodoo Doughnuts because they were closed when we passed by.
Haha I went to Portland to Voodoo Donuts. I wish I tried all that other stuff you had though!
I've never been to Portland, but I'll look into these places when I do go. Yum!
I live in Portland, but I swear we're not all as weird as those who actually live downtown. It's like a different country down there.

There's a challengecalled the "TEX-ASS challenge" where you have to down this HUMONGOUS donut in 90 seconds, and if you win it's FREE.... god. I could only eat a third of it in that time, I couldn't imagine taking down the other 2 thirds. 0_0
That said, AWESOME donut shop.
Love it! I used to live in Portland, but naturally never did anything cool... lol, but once I moved away, every time I came back and visited, I saw more of the sites. I love Voodoo Donuts, but there's always a 30 min line out the door. :S Good stuff though, it's an amazingly diverse city for food.
I was just in Portland two weeks ago! I was so excited just because I wanted to go eat at Voodoo Doughnut. It was delicious. :)
Makes me want to go back to Portland.
