  • Just Like the Movies

I love movies. Who doesn't? I still get butterflies every time the lights darken in the theater....Or maybe that's just the butter from the popcorn clogging my arteries. Anyway, the amazing thing about movies is that everything always looks better in them...people, landscapes, beds (Has anyone else ever noticed that? Beds always look so nice), and of course food. Here are some dishes that you can recreate to impress all of your cinematic pals.

    1. Ratatouille's Ratatouille
If you couldn't tell from my picture, I love this movie. It combines all my favorite things: cooking, France, cute little rats, and obviously I have a secret crush on Linguine. My mom, being the kind soul she is (and also the inspiration for this post!), first cooked this for me before I left for France and once again when I returned. It is now one of our favorite meals, and is a definite crowd-pleaser. Bon appetit!

    2. Twilight's Mushroom Ravioli
Yes, we all chuckled at the irony that Bella is a vegetarian and Edward is a "vegetarian." We all marveled at their everlasting, undying love for each other, and we all were impressed by the fact that cheesy dialogue in literature translates to downright campy on screen. And now we all can make the mushroom ravioli that Bella orders on their first date. Ah, true love...

    3. Julie and Julia's Sole Meuniere
If you haven't seen this film yet, then you must not really like food. From the bruschetta in the tiny little Queens apartment to the all-important sole meuniere in a French brasserie, food plays a starring role (well, it has to compete with Meryl Streep, so it better be good). Check out this article from the New York Times about food styling in movies...it's fascinating!

There are so many more...What are your favorite movie dishes?
