  • 7 Types of Eaters

Today I was thinking about the different categories one could fall into when it comes to defining eating habits.  After considering the infinite possibilities, I attempted to summarize eating habits into 7 categories.

    The Regular Eater

Regular Eaters nonchalantly eat breakfast, lunch and dinner without giving it a second thought.  They enjoy going out to eat but do not obsessively study the menu before they visit the restaurant (like I do) and they don’t know the difference between a Habanero and a Jalapeno.

    The Unhealthy Eater

Potato chips for breakfast, a liter of soda for lunch, pizza as a snack and cake for dinner; the Unhealthy Eater lives life on the edge.  They’ve never stepped foot into a gym and know the coordinates of every fast food joint in town.

    The Healthy Eater

Healthy Eaters love vegetables.  They know which vitamins can be found in a mango and how much fiber there is in beans.  They adore exploring the farmer’s market for organic fare and try to cook and eat at home as much as possible to avoid the massive amounts of sodium lurking in restaurant meals.

    The Diet Eater

A Diet Eater may appear to be a Health Eater because they often discuss fat content and meeting their 5-a-day requirements.  When they break out the Lean Cuisine or just coffee for breakfast, you quickly realize they aren’t focused on health as much as they are focused on losing weight and cutting calories.

    Adventurous Eater

The Adventurous Eater will eat anything.  From clay to monkey glands to cuy, this Eater has had it all.  Nothing is off limits.

    Squeamish Eater

Adventurous Eaters they are not.  The Squeamish Eater will live off of chicken breast and white Wonder Bread with no interest in touching their lips to red meat or a mushroom.

    Vegetarian Eater

I give these eaters a lot of credit.  I could never quit my cheeseburger addiction.  Vegetarian Eaters do not eat meat whether it is for religious practice, moral reasons or because they believe it is healthier to avoid the consumption of meat.

Note: I have encountered faux-vegetarians; those who claim they do not eat meat because they think its cool but run home and secretly binge on bacon all night.

While I bounce between some of these, most of the time I lean towards Healthy Eater who will inhale the occasional cupcake.

Can you think of any other categories of eaters?  Which type of eater are you?
