  • When It Comes to Pizza, Make Your Own

This past weekend, my roommate and I found ourselves in that everlasting college dilemma: We were hungry, it was late, we wanted pizza. Naturally, and without the least bit of shame, we called Domino's. After all, it seemed like the cheapest, most convenient option. Agreed? Actually, making your own pizza is one of the most simple, fun activities you can do...and it turns out to be cheaper than ordering in. Who could deny the wonders of fresh, homemade 'za?

I found this beautiful guide to DIY pizzas, and next time I have the craving for a little late night pizza, you can bet that you'll find me up to my elbows in flour.

    Why?

Making your own pizza gives you a level of control (creatively and health-consciously) that you usually don't have with your late-night run to Pizza Hut or Papa John's. Their pizzas are often composed of about 200-500 calories per slice. Homemade pizza does not have to destroy your diet if you are mindful of toppings! I am excited to try this vegetarian recipe for onion, mushroom and ricotta pizza that exchanges dough for tortilla wraps to make a super-thin crust. *Mmmm....*

What do you put on your homemade pizza? Does it taste better than takeout?
What other takeout items can you make better at home?
