Daily Q: What Foods Bring Back Specific Memories?
I had an ex-girlfriend to whom I introduced spinach and artichoke dip, almost instantly making it her most favorite food in the history of ever. I don't recall the relationship all that fondly, but whenever I see that appetizer on a menu, I instinctively think of her.
Are there any foods that bring back particular memories for you? Do share.

The way I cook eggs.
It's how my ex would make them
Lobster risotto. Anytime I see that on the menu, I tend to order it. Usually when I have it now (in whatever restaurant), it's not as good as when I had it first at Gary Danko's back in 2005. It reminds me of her. The amber glow of the evening. The awkwardness till that first bite. Our eyes mutually alit; we were in same headspace; delighted by the ambiance and deliciousness of it all.
duck confit
definitely brings back a lot of intense memories :)
Fettuccine Alfredo.

With a story, even.
catalina salad dressing reminds me of the closet sized apartment i lived in the year after i graduated college. the kitchen wasn't particularly conducive to cooking so i'd resort to salads pretty often
there were these sugar cookies shaped like gingerbread men that had chocolate in the middle that my mom used to get when i was little... i rarely see them these days, but the times i have seen them i'll remember being tiny enough to fit into the shopping cart!
From what I can remember right now, Pizza Hut and KFC.
Hostess used to make chocolate covered twinkies called Chocodiles. I used to ALWAYS get them whenever my Mom packed my lunch for a clas trip. YUM
Cadbury eggs remind me of how excited I used to get for Easter candy. Pizza Hut reminds me of the book program I did for school. Every time I ordered a personal pan pizza I got a sticker on my little book pin. When the pin was filled with stickers I was entitled to a free pizza.
Mac and cheese reminds me of pre-school. My dad would bring me some for my lunch almost every day, without fail :)
