  • Review: Lindemans Framboise

This is a Belgian Lambic an odd type of beer traditionally made only in the Senne Valley close to Brussels. Where it was brewed is important, because it uses wild yeast and other other microorganisms. Brewed this way in the wrong place and this beer would be vinegar instead of beer. Everything brewers try avoid in the way of contamination, they do intentionally with these wild beers. This one has Raspberries added to it. Just about any fruit you can imagine is also used.

Deep red pour, Pink head there is no better looking beer that I have ever seen. Attack of raspberry puree, raspberry jam, natural sugars all hit the nose with no subtly at all. Flavors unsurprisingly of raspberries, sweet ’n’ sour. Finishes dry and sweet, not one of your flavored malt beverages. This has real complexity to its flavorer and aroma.

I can think of no better beer to try if you love fruit flavors and traditionally are not a beer fan. And if you are a beer fan. You very likely will still like it, this is not a flavored malt beverage of the sort that makes a real beer drinker want to get sick. No it really is a beer, an odd one but them Belgians are a strange lot. I love their beer, but strange it is.
