Food Products Abroad You Wish They Sold Back Home
There are so many products that are known all around the world. Coca-Cola is the staple of the American beverage that goes perfect with a tub of popcorn. What about awesome things you find while you're traveling? That you kind of wish you had back at home or you'll search all over eBay and Amazon till you have it.
A post was written about national drinks and how you should try them on your travels. Well, these are some unique products that I wish stores in the United States had.
Ramune Japanese Soft Drinks
These are starting to make an appearance in local Japanese stores, but I think everyone should sell this! Not only is it a drink, but it is a complex little puzzle. If you've had one before, you know what I am talking about. The fun of the drink is trying to get it open. Be careful and make sure if you don't know what you're doing to ask, or you might not ever be able to open your drink!
And the flavors and presentation of the bottle is quite enjoyable.
Vitesse Cleansing Facial Wipes
I have very oily skin, so when I find a product that works, I will stick to it. On my recent trip to Barcelona, I found these facial wipes. I can't even find an image on Google, so I had to take my own photograph. They are perfect for oily skin and for 2 Euro, you can't beat the price.
Passion-fruit Jelly
I picked this up randomly for my mom who loves everything passion-fruit. On my trip to Hawaii, every supermarket carried this brand of jelly. My mom loved it and wants to get 20 jars of it but can't find it in the US. I told her to send me back to Hawaii and I'll gladly pick some up for her.
What are some products you've seen abroad that you wish they sold at home?

You can order that online. Enjoy.
@AzNgUrl3510@xanga - You have to get the ball down before you can actually drink it? Is the ball edible along with the drink???
Being biracial I come across some foods that I have to travel for. Like when my grandmother makes her curried goat, she always puts breadfruit in it. It has a consistancy like a potatoe. I love it!! The other one I always wish we sold in stores is guava paste. Its thicker than a jelly or jam and we spread it across crackers and eat it with really sharp cheese. Yumm!!
I haven't tried anything that you can't get in the states, but there are a lot of things from other countries I would like to try.
My roommate when I studied in France became obsessed with Creme Blanc. It's sort of like Creme Fraiche, but thicker, almost like Greek Yogurt, but with a slightly different flavor. They don't have it Stateside and it's not even something she can smuggle back. :(
Sold in Australia and New Zealand, Lift.
they sell ramune at a lot of asian supermarkets :)
Hahaha, that Passionfruit Jelly is something I send to my friends in the mainland US and Canada, from here in Hawai'i :)
I wish I could get some good Stroopwafels here. Damn I love those things, but can only get them when I'm on holiday in Europe.
Ramune is great! There's a Chinatown near me. I can get it from there. :)
I LOVE RAMUNE DRINKS!!! I love hello kitty too...
I would like to try those facial wipes.
Isn't Hawaii in the US? Have you looked online?
There was this amazing creamy, fragrant soap I found in the Netherlands that smelled amazing and it was only 80 Euro cents, which is a little bit more than a dollar. I bought one to bring home with me and it's gone now but I wish they sold it here!
Btw, the title said food products, but you included facial wipes so I thought a soap comment would be all right.
@KrazeeKunoichi009@xanga - That sounds delicious!
@arenfro@xanga - Dear god yes. Thank god I have a pen pal who sends me goodies from Japan every now and then.
i always love how ramune looks like. and how its so fun to open it but........i never tried it...i'm not a fan of bubbly drinks. maybe i'll try it this weekend :3
i love how japanese snacks have so many different and crazy flavors. but expensive sometimes :P
You just have to know where to shop!
Omg I love Ramune! SO good
Japanese snaks and drinks are so good!
I love going to the polish supermarket and looking at all the fun juice blends, snacks, etc. (We get some of them, but haven't tried all). It's so awesome that over there, manufacturers make the HEALTHIER options more appealing (juice, mineral water) instead of coming up with new artificial flavors of soda.
As for things you REALLY can't get in the states, proper Russian farmer's cheese is not sold even in Russian delis and it's really expensive when you find something similar. Whereas it's an everyday food there.
all of these are available here :X (L)
the korean tonkatsu sauce...apparently it's worcestershire sause based...but worcestershire is a lot thinner than the tonkatsu sauce... T_T oh how i miss thee.
@sophixc@xanga - and wegmans!
@Stephanie - It's definitely a Hawai'i thing... probably possible to import, but probably very expensive. Have a Hawaiian friend send you some :P
