Na-na-na-na-na Naan
Naan bread is extremely simple and relatively easy to make. Here's how I do it:
Ingredients:
- 397g all-purpose flour
- 9g instant dry yeast
- 180ml water
- 60ml melted butter
- 57g plain yogurt
- 1 egg, 28g sugar
- 50g salt and sesame seeds

Directions: Combine flour and yeast, then add water, butter, yoghurt, egg, sugar and salt and mix until the dough becomes very elastic but still wet.
Allow to proof for one hour.
Divide the dough into 9 pieces and preshape them into rounds. Allow the dough to rest, covered, for about 15 minutes.
Remember to work in sequential order, starting with the piece of dough you had first divided.
Stretch each piece of dough into a round so that the center is about 1/4 inch thick with a border1/2 inch wide all around.
Pull at one edge to elongate each round slightly. Place dough on parchment-lined sheet pans and brush the bread with butter, followed by a sprinkle of sesame seeds on top.

Bake in oven at 425F until golden brown and puffed (10 minutes).
Enjoy with your favourite curry. Here I made Chicken Korma to go along with my Na-na-na-na-na Naan.

I LOVE NAAN!!
I would add garlic to the top and make garlic naan!
One of these days I will make some.
i had naan at an indian restaurant once with this chicken-y curry dip thing.
omg <3
mmmm... I will have to adapt this, because Naan is too fantastic to live without. Bonus to you with the sesame seeds, I love sesame seeds.
Omgg i never even thought about making my own.. I always imagined it some extraordinary bread that I must go out of my way to get =)
Will try soon!
@methodElevated@xanga - OMG YES
no wonder why they are so fatty... but so DELICOUS
WILL DEFINITELY MAKE!
That looks more like Afghan naan than tandoori naan. Either way, nothing is the same than the naan sold from the vendors in Pakistan/India.
..Le sigh.
There are some great recipes where you can make naan on the stove or grill, too.
Very successful and lovely post, dear :)
Thank you for this.
Cool. I'm gonna try this soon.
Or you could just go to your local Indian or Pakistani shop to get ready made ones. That's the lazy man's guide to Naans lol
Let it proof for an hour? And everything's in grams?
Anyways, it does look amazing.
hmm.. i've tried that, but i like the kind where it's a lot thinner...
O____O That looks gooood.
interesting...
Ooooohhhh it's sooo delicious!
