Joonbug has a neat
article up about an intriguing European product called Spike Your Juice—it's a powder that, when added to juice, will ferment your beverage to create a champagne-esque alcohol experience.
The only downside is that the process takes about 48 hours. It varies per juice, and how booze-y you want your drink to become, so SYJ advises its customers to begin tasting their concoctions 24 hours after the initial mixing.
What do you think? Would you pay $9.99 to turn your OJ into an instant screwdriver?

I'd much rather get a bottle of E&J which costs $7 and takes me only 20 minutes to drink
I'd try this to see what happens. 48 hours is awfully short though.
I would totally try this. I have a juicer that I am totally addicted to, so I juice all kinds of stuff, and most of it has blueberries in it...I bet it would be great as booze!
lol, seems a little too not-spontaneous for most drinkers... i'd rather buy liquor ready-made and spike my juice that way
Haha, this is great. Europeans think of everything!
couldn't i just carry a flask with which to spike my drinks?
I'd rather just make a drink.
I think i would rather just knock some vodka into my OJ and make the screwdriver right when i want it, not 48hrs ahead of time. Good conversation starter at a party though.
Hmm I wouldn't mind using this, depends what's the alcohol content per liter for example. If it was cheaper than buying vodka and mixing then I wouldn't mind using it for jungle juice or just cheap light drinks for the lightweights.
I'dd rather buy a botle of let's say vodka and keep my juice the way it is
Might try it, but I'd probably still just prefer the ever-versatile vodka.
sounds interesting
I would like to try it eventually.
No
It's not really instant though. If you're waiting 24-48 hours you might as well just mix the vodka and oj yourself.
I might try it for kicks, but us professional hootch-hounds can't wait around 48 hours for booze or we'll get the DT's or summat!
