Daily Q: What Was Your Thanksgiving Highlight?
Now that Thanksgiving, black Friday and likely a good fraction of the leftovers are behind us, let's have a little recap.
The standout at my table this year was a marvelous cranberry-and-pear cobbler brought by some distant relatives I hadn't met before. I never would have thought of that fruit combination before, but I'm tempted to bake one tonight.
What was the standout at your Thanksgiving table?

Mochi Duck.
This is a fairly rare dish; as it's made special-order only, and only a few chefs know how to make it. It's a de-boned duck stuffed with a fried Chinese sticky rice, roasted, battered and then deep-fried. So you have crispy fried batter, succulent duck skin and fat melting into duck meat and sticky rice in the center. Very good stuff.

Green bean casserole. I made it with less milk this year, and it turned out a lot better. And yes, it's the kind that's on the back of the French's onions can. But whatever. :)

Seeing my friend whom I have seen for 4.5 years!
@Morningstarrising@xanga - Oh yes, thanks. Wheelchair hit-and-run! And hitting on all the attractive male nurses in the nursing home. xD
And during a meal I want to yell, "Edward is a dope!" and see if I can start an old people food fight.
Food-wise: the fluffiest mashed potatoes I've ever had. I had my own vegan mashed potatoes made with soy creamer which sounds odd, but they were absolutely delicious!

High Light = Cut up Butternut Squash... roasted with pumpkin pie spice - and sprinkled with parsley before serving! Honestly, THAT'S IT! It was so incredibly delicious!
the turkey was my standout because it was so good and juicy!
Cooking with my in-laws and introducing the tradition to my German family. :) They were skeptical about the menu but after dinner they could only say how yummy everything was. :D
THE PINEAPPLE GLAZED HAM... OHHH THAT WAS GOOD EVEN THOUGH I'M NOT A BIG FAN OF PINEAPPLE BUT IT WORKED! IT BALANCED OUT THE SALTINESS WITH THE SWEETNESS O THE PINEAPPLE!
