Foods That Fight Stress
The holiday season is sooner than you think. Along with the holiday cheer there is also the holiday stress.
Epicurious has listed 5 awesome foods that kick that bad-stress away. Here are the highlights:
1. Spinach
Spinach has magnesium which keeps blood pressure from going through the roof.2. Oranges
Usually when people go through a lot of stress, it can lower the immune system. The vitamin C in oranges and other citrus fruits can help defend the body.
3. Fish
Fish rich with Omega-3 fatty acids can help prevent depression and anxiety during those tough and stressful times during the year.4. Oatmeal
B-vitamins in oatmeal stimulate the production of serotonin which sends soothing signals to the brain.5. Chocolate
This probably the only stress fighting food I'll be eating quite a lot of. Chocolate releases endorphins, the happy hormones into the body making you feel more relaxed. The higher concentration of cocoa (65% or darker), the better it is for you, and good for the heart too.
What food relaxes you?

dang-it, I'll have to eat some of these
Just cooking things at home for myself helps de-stress me.
You have to be careful with sugar during this season, sugar has a very similar structure to vitamin C, and though eating your vitamin C is great for you, the more sugar in your body the harder it is for your body to find that vitamin C and be able to use it to combat the nasties.
Fish sounds like a good choice, especially to battle this seasonal depression. I hate winter depression!
@karmavore - I never understood why or how cooking helps destress me, but it does; I always thought I may be odd because of it
I eat oranges, oatmeal, and spinach on a daily basis. So this is great news! :)

GO OATMEAL. Hehe, I have a bowl every day...
Actually, the higher amount of cocoa chocolate has, the fattier it is because it's made up of cocoa powder, cocoa butter and other cocoa solids. Cocoa butter is pure fat and the most prominent part of cocoa in chocolate.
