Last week, we decided to do the arrival of cold weather justice by asking you all to share your favorite stew recipes.
The special things about stew are that it's a) extremely simple and b) impossible to do wrong. Simply chop and mince and pour and add it all to the pot, then let it sit for hours. The longer it has a chance to sit, the more complete the stew will taste.
First among our contributors was karmavore, who made an awesome looking "comfort stew" powered by mushrooms, potatoes and kidney beans. Read the full recipe
here.
Here at IRLF, we decided to stay very basic and cook a traditional, hearty beef and vegetable stew flavored with dark Czech lager. The recipe is simple, but the results were fantastic. Take a quick look at it
here.
Chow got in the game with his take on Galbi Jjim, a traditional home-style Korean stew with braised beef shortrib and vegetables. Check out the full recipe
here.
A few of our frequent guest bloggers have featured some stews recently. Check out this
Guiness beef stew from Pig Pig's Corner and a recipe for
Dorowat, a traditional Ethiopian stew, from [eating club] vancouver.
Hope you all get a chance to try some of these. Check back tomorrow for our next weekly food challenge!

Wah, I'm so hungry now. These all sound delicious.
What's the next challenge going to be?
I am a robot. boop boop boop.
I like bananas coconuts and grapes.
I want a cheeseburger.
With lots of bacon. And cheese. Droopy, melting cheese. And more bacon.
When are the deadline for these things! I'm trying to find my camera cord to upload the few pics I got of the "tried beef brasato but instead turned into fusion of that and bò kho."
@chow -
Da ge, have you been hitting the booze again?
@tigerdauphin@xanga - i am assuming Tuesday as Wednesday is when the challenges are posted
@tigerdauphin@xanga - I try to get mine up on Monday, but I submitted this morning. I don't want to put Zeejay into too much of a cramp for time. They get posted Tuesday always, usually around 6-ish eastern.
@just_the_average_jane@xanga - Actually, why yes I have! Wheeeeeee...
