  • Behold, the $25,000 Cupcake Car

We really would like to stop feeding you news bites about things people have done with, to or in the shape of cupcakes, but for reasons we're dying to have explained, the world continues produce them. We consider it our duty.

The latest example: In the midst of a national 10% unemployment rate, Neimen Marcus has seen fit to offer customers customized one-seat "cars"  in the shape of, yes, cupcakes for just $25,000. That, if you're curious, would buy you 11,000+ edible cupcakes at New York's Magnolia Bakery, a fully equipped Toyota Camry or sustain an average family of four in Nebraska for six full months.

The cupcake cars – which the online catalog tells us are "mind-blowing, triple-dog-dare, double-infinity forever cool" – run on a 24-volt electric motor, go at a top speed of seven miles per hour and apparently have something to do with Burning Man.

Apologies for all the hater-ism, but on this one we have to ask: Has the cupcake fad finally gone too far?
