A fellow
Xangan tipped us off to a nifty tip sheet posted by
Slashfood about some of the best "secret menus" at chain restaurants around the country.
Secret menus, as the name indicates, consist of unadvertised items that a restaurant will be happy to serve you but that you won't find on the board above the counter. They are a long-held tradition for fast food joints and a clever way of cultivating a loyal clientele.
The most of famous of these is In-and-Out Burger, the west coast treasure that serves several variations of its burgers under coded names that were until recently (thanks, internet) spread only by word of mouth. Some of the others on the list:
- The health-conscious Subway still serves a gluttonous "pizza sub" below the radar.
- Fatburger has a sandwich aptly named "The Hypocrite" – a veggie patty wrapped in bacon.
- Jamba Juice serves gummy bear and peanut butter and jelly "smoothies" that are more like a milk shake.
- Dairy Queen will put just about anything in a Blizzard.
- Chipotle will make you quesadillas and nachos upon request.
Does anyone know of other secret menus lurking out there to add to the list?

Ha =) I always get Chipotle quesadillas. I knew they weren't on the menu but I didn't think of it as anything special...
Ohhh man... Double Double Animal Style Fries Well Done calls my name. I miss living in California.
3x3 even. Mmmm. Burrger...
MMmmmm. In N out. :D
If the tall size at starbucks is still more than you need ask for a short size.
Chipotle makes quesadillas and nachos on request?!?! I'm going there tomorrow. :D
McGangbang at McD. gotta love it.
starbucks has their seasonal coffees like the pumpkin spice or something during the fall and the peppermint stick one in the winter... they're only advertised during those times of the year, but you can get them whenever you want!
Jamba Juice makes a ton of secret smoothies, like Skittles, Pink Starburst, Strawberry Shortcake ... I asked for a green gummy once. :)
although i dont like in&out.. i do love their protein wrap! it's less grease and not a heavy b/c of the bread.
I wonder if Starbucks do the "short" drinks here... and how much they cost. I'll have to ask next time I stop by.
Jamba juice has a great secret menu!
white gummy bear is the best :)

Okay, this sounds like it should be a series of entries -- one for each restaurant.
Mmmm. In N Out Burger, love living in California for that but not so much the high cost of living! (And it's not really secret, you can find many of the "secrets" on their website. I didn't know that Jamba Juice has a secret menu but I am a bit bummed that the juice makers didn't know how to make a Vibrant C soon after the menu changed.
chipotle quesadillas?! win!!
I always get barbecue sauce for my French fries.
Oh god. I remember the first time I've tried an In and Out burger. As an asexual, I must say that was closest to an orgasm as I was ever going to get.
GOD, I want me a double-double with a vanilla milkshake right NOW. *drool*

mmmmm in-n-out burger... mmmm..... double double... animal style!
I used to get Dairy Queen Chicken Strip Blizzards. xDDD
jamba juice won't make the secret flavored smoothies for me. :(
DQ has fried mushrooms for $1.99 [they arent on my menu atleast] no sour cream for dipping though, only ranch
Also, I have gotten a mint chocolate chip shake there once too
@HoneyandSaliva@xanga - that sounds so awesomee! ^^"
The only place I order off-menu stuff is Starbucks, my favorite is frozen strawberry lemonade, which always confuses the new baristas.
