  • Shhhhh... Secret Menus!

A fellow Xangan tipped us off to a nifty tip sheet posted by Slashfood about some of the best "secret menus" at chain restaurants around the country.

Secret menus, as the name indicates, consist of unadvertised items that a restaurant will be happy to serve you but that you won't find on the board above the counter. They are a long-held tradition for fast food joints and a clever way of cultivating a loyal clientele.

The most of famous of these is In-and-Out Burger, the west coast treasure that serves several variations of its burgers under coded names that were until recently (thanks, internet) spread only by word of mouth. Some of the others on the list:
    • The health-conscious Subway still serves a gluttonous "pizza sub" below the radar.
    • Fatburger has a sandwich aptly named "The Hypocrite" – a veggie patty wrapped in bacon.
    • Jamba Juice serves gummy bear and peanut butter and jelly "smoothies" that are more like a milk shake.
    • Dairy Queen will put just about anything in a Blizzard.
    • Chipotle will make you quesadillas and nachos upon request.
Does anyone know of other secret menus lurking out there to add to the list?
