I know countless people who have tried some kind of vegetarianism for a period, be it the I-only-eat-fish variety or something a little more true to the name. Yet veganism, for all it's drummed up, seems to be where a lot of people draw the line.
Though I was a vegetarian for about three years, I don't think I'd ever go vegan if only because I couldn't trust myself to keep to it. The restrictions are so many that I would have to spend more time thinking about what I ate than almost anything else. I just don't have time for that.
How about you? Would you ever consider going vegan? Or if you do already, what has your experience been?

I haven't considered going vegan and don't plan on going vegan. So far, my experience has been stellar.
I'm an ovo-vegetarian (most of the time). Would never go vegan due to the inherent risks (B-vitamin deficiency, risk of anemia, etc.), however, I respect the decision of anyone who is.
vegetarian, yes. vegan, no. D:
I couldn't do it. I enjoy dairy too much.
I like food too much to go vegan. Pretty much all the food I eat would be gone. Do not like.
I'm vegan. I've had no trouble keeping it up and plan to continue. :)
I was vegan for about 10 years and I would love to go back to that way of eating again but living with my parents at the moment kinda makes it a little difficult.
I would/have considered it but i know i would never be able to. I rather be a vaggie.
Never. Too much work, and I quite like my diet the way it is.
I couldn't even be vegetarian for more than a day if I tried; so, veganism would be way too much for me.
No way.
I was vegan for Lent one year, and I stuck to it, but I don't think it's worth it.
I turned to too many processed foods (peanut butter+anything) because I was too lazy to make veggie/tofu dishes and I just can't stand a salad without cheese.
It's much healthier to prepare all of your meals yourself, in my opinion.
(BTW, I'm currently an omnivore. :) I eat meat every other day ish.)
of course.
I'd consider it, but it's very difficult.
I've been vegan for certain days before for religious reasons. The food is just delicious, but I'm sure I'll get sick of it if it was everyday.
For us Buddhists, at least the way I was raised, there's no such thing as vegetarian, just regular and vegan.
I'm vegetarian. I would definitely consider going vegan.
I'm vegan and I think people make it out to be far more complicated and limiting than it is. Like anything you can keep to eating a plate full or boring veggies or it can be the best gourmet food you have ever had. Its a personal choice...
nope, I love cheese too much. hehhe.
I havent eaten meat in 6 years and i have been vegan for 1. It is VERY hard to commit to when youve eaten animal product all your life. But I have never liked meat or cheese especially eggs.
Its all just disgusting.... and people who say "I could never give up cheese!" Dude think about what cheese is.....its fucking disgusting.I don't think I can
my frame is too slight and I'm incredibly tiny
x
yay vegan. i've been vegan for almost 5 years. it's awesome. you should try it.
I'm a vegetarian...and I love my dairy, so probably not.
I've been vegetarian on and off through my life, for long periods of time. I never really enjoyed it though until recently. Now I'm almost completely vegetarian. I still eat some meat through the week, but my diet is probably 95% vegetables, fruits and grains now.
I've been vegan before too, coinciding with times in my life I've dated vegan women. During that time I learned how to cook vegan for them, and even contemplated opening a vegan restaurant.
It's do-able, and you can make pretty good tasting vegan food. It's just WAY more complicated to make an equivalent vegan dish. The key I think is to not try and make "regular-like food", but instead to adopt the eating characteristics of a more paleo style diet in the first place -- just lots of raw food. There are also a TON of very delicious Buddhist style pure vegan dishes out there that a person just has to learn how to make.
To make the switch though, I think you have to really ideologically commit to it; and that's not something I can do. Also, because I NEED a full complement of Proteins and BCAA's and other athletic performance supplements that are animal based, so I'd never be able to fully switch anyway.
Nope, I'm staying a vegetarian.
I tried... and lasted only 4 days =(
veganism was too hard for me but I've been a vegetarian for almost 5 years
I might try going vegan again in the future
