  • Fancy Cookwear: Gimmick or Godsend?

Fellow foodies, I have to ask: is cooking really all about the tools you use, or is it just how you use them?

After looking at some fancy appliances like this Kalorik toaster ($60), which has some futuristic functions like the bun/roll toaster on which the pictured croissant is resting, regular appliances like teapots and toasters are looking so last season.

Forget teapots, this is a teamaker (Kalorik, $50), which will let you control how dark your tea is while still keeping it warm.

Sometimes, it gets really annoying to grate some cheese by hand. It's not often, but when that time rolls around, give this automatic cheese grater (Omcan, $335)a try!

Many foodies swear by KitchenAid mixers ($300), but I have to include it because so many people swear by the old fashioned way, whether that be a hand held mixer, or the even more traditional hand-beaten methods.

Would you buy any of these? Do you prefer traditional methods or are you a lover of the latest and greatest in kitchen tech? Are technologies like these making people who love to cook lazier or allowing them to use their time more creatively?
