Fellow foodies, I have to ask: is cooking really all about the tools you use, or is it just how you use them?
After looking at some fancy appliances like this Kalorik toaster ($60), which has some futuristic functions like the bun/roll toaster on which the pictured croissant is resting, regular appliances like teapots and toasters are looking so last season.
Forget teapots, this is a
teamaker (Kalorik, $50), which will let you control how dark your tea is while still keeping it warm.
Sometimes, it gets really annoying to grate some cheese by hand. It's not often, but when that time rolls around, give this automatic cheese grater (Omcan, $335)a try!
Many foodies swear by KitchenAid mixers ($300), but I have to include it because so many people swear by the old fashioned way, whether that be a hand held mixer, or the even more traditional hand-beaten methods.
Would you buy any of these? Do you prefer traditional methods or are you a lover of the latest and greatest in kitchen tech? Are technologies like these making people who love to cook lazier or allowing them to use their time more creatively?

Kitchenaid Stand Mixer is a MUST HAVE. In fact, don't just get the standard 5qt, get the Professional 600 6qt because while 1qt extra might not seem a lot, it allows for easy making of double batches. It also has a more powerful 575 watt motor. It's worth spending the extra on. This is one of the most versatile, useful pieces in the kitchen especially with all the attachments options.
Automatic Cheese Grater: Lame. Especially at $335.
Teamaker Bubble Thing: Lame. Spend the money on some good old-fashioned Tea Making gear.
Weird Toaster: No thanks. For anything bigger than regular Toast, I'll use a Toaster Oven.
I have a kitchenaid mixer that I looooove. <3
I'd love to buy these fancy cookwear.
Unnecessary to the max.
I like traditional methods. I feel like it's more homemade when I do it by hand. Which means I don't use mixers that much. Everyone else in my family always whips out the appliances, and I just get a couple of bowls and wooden spoons. Haha. I am not at all high-tech in any way.
I use a Bosch, which is like a KitchenAid mixer on steroids, but that's about it.
I use mixers. It's too tiring to not use mixers, especially for things like merengue.
I would love to have the kitchenaid. As I get older, my hands start to hurt. Having something to do the heavy mixing would be great.
There's nothing more AWESOME than a kitchen full of gadgets. That toaster would be a life saver, and I would do just about anything (anything besides shelling out $300 of my hard earnd money) for one of those Kitchen-Aid mixers.
They look kind of lame. I want better kitchen gadgets than those.
They look cool, but I think a $335 cheesegrater is rather ludicris when I can just use a $10 one and get the same results.
the only one of those appliances i would use is a kitchenaid stand mixer. for someone who loves baking as much as i do, not having one around makes some recipes disasters waiting to happen!
yeah...i'm more old-fashioned when it comes to cooking.i use a bowl and wooden spoon or whisk to mix. some of these are for lazy people...i mean, a 335 dollar CHEESE GRATER? come on...and i only use a toaster oven so everything fits...
the only thing i'd get is the teamaker
meh. unnecessary.
