Fast food may have begun as a way to make meals simple and uniform, but these days, the industry seems to be infused with a fair amount of creativity – if not a lot of shame.
As we
told you about last month, McDonald's (who else?) has wed the American penchant for grandiosity with the Japanese knack for oddity to come up with the Mega Tamago: a grotesque, quadruple-decker bacon-and-egg cheeseburger type thing now available in all Japanese Mickey D's locations. Apparently a breakfast sandwich, the Mega Tamago seems to be an extension of the Big Mac with an extra beef patty, a fried egg, two strips of bacon and lord knows how many calories.
Not to be outdone, KFC introduced its own gastronomical aberration to the market this summer with the
Double Down sandwich. In what might pass as an unintended argument for universal health coverage, the Double Down is a bacon and cheese sandwich that replaces the bun with two fried chicken breasts. Why didn't you think of that?
Well, why don't you? Tell your fellow foodies what you would come up with if you had the chance to create your own fast food monstrosity. And if you've got great Photoshop skills,
submit your visual dramatizations and we'll post some of 'em next week.
Let's do it.

This is gonna be fun.
Wow! And aren't most Japanese folks at a pretty healthy weight? Or maybe that's China? Either way, this is a strange combo!
The best part will be eating it!
If the Mega Tamago was offered here in the US, I might give it a try -- as long as I could get it without special sauce. And I'm waiting for the Double Down to appear at my local KFCs -- and I live in Louisville.
Sounds good, but are you guys going to post the Ingredient of the Week: Pumpkin submissions from this week?
I submitted on Tuesday night, and again yesterday in case the original submission didn't go through, but I haven't seen any Pumpkin submissions go up yet.
Here are the links if the two submissions still did not go through.

@Nitzchiya@xanga - Japanese people were skinny.......Until we started feeding them American food O.O
I'd want to make the ultimate meat lovers' pizza
With a mixture of steak and cheese baked within the crust to make it stuffed, it'd be my native Chicago-style deep dish pizza filled with lots of cheese and all kinds of meat ranging from gyros to chicken tikka to mutton.
my mouth is watering..
Something with a lot of cheese.
If I'm in the mood for pizza but don't want to spend $10 for a pie... I just make it at home but in the form of a sandwich.
-Portuguese bread
-Sauce
-Mozzarella cheese
-Green peppers/onions
-garlic powder/oregano
-butter
Cover with foil and Put it in the oven at 350 degrees for about 15-20 minutes and tadaaa! A pizza sandwich :) It tastes aweeesome.
Popeyes red beans and rice with their spicy chicken in between one of their biscuits (idk if thats been done but it would be like their new wrap but with a biscuit instead) MMMMM
