Most of you testified earlier this week that you'd be more than happy to try a square watermelon, but why leave the matter at a cube?
Earlier this year, a Japanese couple discovered how to create a
watermelon in the shape of a heart, which they then sold as a Mother's Day specialty. The process wasn't easy and the results weren't cheap. The craft fruits took more than three years to prefect, and with only about 20 in existence, each melon retailed for about 15,750 yen, or $160 stateside.
How much would you pay for a watermelon in the shape of your choosing?

I wouldn't pay extra for a watermelon to be shaped a certain way, it all gets eaten in the end. And tastes the same, anyways. (:
wow =)
i love watermelon
I love watermelon...but not that much
holy poop,
160$ for a water melon?! I love watermelon.. just not enough to pay 160$ for a heart shaped one
ahah no thanks :)
hehe. iono. ;P
Wow. It's interesting...but it's not like it would retain its heart shape once you cut it up. $160 is too much. I'd rather buy a normal watermelon and use cookie cutters if I wanted a heart shape.
I would want one, but maybe not for $160 though..
SURE! if I had the money...and if people weren't starving in other countries..
so coolll :)
Maybe it's because I live at home, but I would totally buy that.
That's cute, but I don't mind an oval watermelon. It all goes to the same place.
i wouldn't pay too much for a heart shaped watermelon.
No thanks. I would rather buy a huge melon and cut out hundreds of heart shaped chunks myself!
i'd have my picture taken with it too.
I wouldn't pay for it though, ha.
LOL I might... but i'm thinking ofhow it'll go stale cause i wouldn't dare to cut it lol
lol nahh..
You know, in a really crazy way, that would be really romantic. I'd prefer a $10 box of 25 Godiva Chocolates... but I'd still be happy that my SO bought this for me Lollll. That's really expensive though...
That looks pretty cool, but I really would not pay that much for a watermelon. No, thank you.
like the idea but not sure if it tastes the same.
Rather just buy a local market watermelon and enjoy it with all my heart. Watermelon is my secret girlfriend.
Expensive booty call.
I Love watermelon. It is refreshing when taken chilled, but 160 dollars is a fortune for watermelon
I wouldn't pay extra... considering that the volume of a watermelon pressed into some kind of a shape would be less than a naturally grown watermelon.
I looove watermelon!(: Except...I wouldnt pay that much for one.
